It's funny. I make a few statements here and three mods, board members or whatever get very defensive.
Eric Notti - "You lost your shit."
Chuck Richter - "I must be an asshole."
Geoff Stoddard - "Stop being a drama queen."
It's only Angels baseball, a perpetual underachieving team for 50 years. While you guys do a great job in support of the brand, you aren't it. Relax.

    I like the comments.

This player needs to be disciplined because he is clearly out of control and cannot conduct himself like a rational human being at this point. If you're a drug addict and have relapsed 3 times in the last 5 years it is quite frankly ridiculous that he is not being punished.

At this point the Angels need to eat the contract so this doesn't become an even bigger distraction down the road this season. I mean we all saw how Hamilton worked out sandbagging it in left during the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised if he was using during that series.  The bottom line is he can't even be trusted to be a veteran leader. He brings absolutely nothing to the team. His only asset on the Rangers was his talent. He doesn't have that talent anymore, and at this point he's just total dead weight that's going to take a spot from someone who works hard

So basically, do whatever it takes Arte. Just put this disaster behind us already. Keeping him around is an even worse move than keeping Wells around for as long as we did was. This guy is just an endless distraction

Depends on who the target audience is. I'm sure there are quite a few conservative, family values fans in OC that appreciate the tough talk for the benefit of their kids. I don't necessarily agree with the "won't somebody think of the children?!?" angle but I would understand why the FO might go that direction at the expense of Ken Rosenthal's delicate sensibilities.
I also don't give a damn what a bunch of Twitter addled communications majors think of the response from a "PR perspective". Every jackass who took an undergrad marketing class thinks they have relevant advice for a billion dollar enterprise.

Yes, I know plenty about addiction seeing as I work with addicted youths 40 hours a week, have had multiple trainings on it, and work very closely with an addiction counselor.

If his addiction is so strong, maybe he should put baseball behind him; retire and focus on strengthening himself, his confidence, and his abilities to fight his addiction. Maybe he should take the advice that his close friend gave him when this news first broke and walk away from the game.

I have sympathies for people with addictions, but this guy needs to stop being babied. At what point does his addiction become his first and foremost issue to settle in his life?

I remember Kendry(s) going apeshit at Yankees Stadium in 2009. Think he hit 3 HRs that series and had like 7 XBH...all I could think was "**** yeah, this guys legit"

Lucky the Angels got the good years out of the contract, before the money becomes insane.

Both you guys have quit smoking so know far more about quitting than I did. So I have some questions for both of you. Once you decided to quit the first time you never had another cigarette after that? Is it possible you had more natural ability to quit? Like maybe it's possible that Josh Hamilton thinks you're weak minded for not being able to hit home runs off MLB pitching. He's done it hundreds of times why can't you do it? Maybe you didn't work hard enough and were a loser. He's seen plenty of guys he used to play with not work as hard as he did and fall off and not make the show. If you had tried harder and were stronger mentally you would have made millions of dollars playing in MLB. Not working hard is costing you millions of dollars. Perhaps a better example for people who believe it is a disease is cancer patients. Some will beat it with chemo therapy and others will die. It doesn't mean chemo doesn't work or that the patient was weak it was just the cancer was different in their body than it the other person's. Maybe Josh needs a different treatment option or maybe just more of the same. Maybe he is mentally weak but maybe he just has a more addictive body than most just like he has a more athletic body than most.

Most regular people with drug addictions lose their job. They have not the resources to have 24/7 life coaches to keep them on the path. They don't have millions to invest in treatment and counseling. So, yeah, we look at Hamilton in a different light and think he should quit ****ing up his family, team and fanbase with all of the advantages he has at his disposal to not be that guy.

You won't lose your job and family over a cheeseburger and beer. You will lose them to a cheeseburger and so much beer you can't walk out of the sports bar your in. There is a difference.

That is a blanket statement.  Is there any time that an addict wants to be an addict?  In other words, selfish?  We see selfish people in every walk of life.

Yet, I read plenty here from Josh supporters that he is helpless.  He's an honorable man in the midst of something he can't control.  He wants to quit, but (throws up his hands) whaddya gonna do??

Has there ever been an addict that actually thinks "F 'em - my employer, my family, my teammates"?  Ever?

Presumably he's been clean for several years so really there's no reason to start using again, he's just a loser. Sorry if that's harsh but it's my opinion. I'm sure he's a good guy, charitable etc. but when your job requires you to be drug free and you take drugs then you are simply a loser.

This guy is a complete disaster on and off the field. He'll have some bullshit quote about God but all he does is do drugs, steal money, get injured, and then have that stupid look on his face when he strikes out. Some Christian. Rangers were very smart to take out the trash when they did

Hamilton turned himself in for relapsing on coke and perhaps other drugs. Varying accounts on how long he'll be suspended, from a slap on the wrist to banned - probably somewhere in-between (80 game suspensions). Oh yeah, Brandon is offended.

It's not his first rodeo. It's not the first time he's done this to his family and teammates. To think that he bitched about having to put poison in his body to play in the postseason.
Josh Hamilton needs to quit baseball and straighten out his personal life. The pressures of the game are too much for him to deal with.

His life issues never seem to come to a resolution. So the fanbase is fed up with all of the excuses from a guy that has more money than he can shove up his nose. He has a family and ****s them over every couple years. He has a fanbase and ****s them over every year with a miriad of excuses why his blue eyes and chew habit don't meld well with his caffiene addiction and sliding head first.

So... **** him and his life issues.

People on this board have continuously given Hamilton the benefit of the doubt for 2 and a half years.
And they end up with egg on their face every single time.
