Barrett got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Angels WAR ranking by position
I don't understand how the rest of the organization doesn't see this. This can't be a in game revenue thing either, no fan is going to games to watch that waste of space.

Corbin will likely get more than $14 million per year.

Racist, so offensive. I am outraged. How can they depict Italians like this. Is there a safe space at the stadium for me?

If they don't, that's a problem.
If they do, that's an even bigger problem.
The Angels are displaying signs of lunacy. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Pujols still playing and trying to reach 2000 RBI is like when you prematurely ejaculate and then limply continue in a desperate attempt to please your woman before full “deflation” occurs.
Right, @tdawg87?

I love watching Matt Chapman play. Surprised he’s done this well with the bat but he’s easily the best defensive third basemen in baseball.

Reminds me of little league where the coach has to play the sucky fat kid for sportsmanship reasons.

There are 433 qualified batting seasons in the majors over the last three years. Of those 433 seasons, Albert has the 2nd and 23rd worst seasons by fWAR (2017 and 2018); he is the only player to have two seasons in the top 23; the next player to have two seasons is Chris Davis (1st and 30th).
Albert's 2016 is 60th of 433, so also very bad.
Albert's fWAR rank by year:
2018: #134 of 143
2017: #144 of 144
2016: #131 of 146
Most of us realize just how bad Albert has been the last few years, but that makes it crystal clear that he should not be playing baseball, or at least starting, on a team that is at all serious in reaching the postseason. He is a bad player - one of the worst in baseball.

It's not all on him...I don't blame it all on him. It's the damn organization. Just incompetence all around in my opinion the past few years.
But I'm not going to sugar coat it. I do not like Albert Pujols as a player on my favorite baseball team. He doesn't deserve to play and he's eating a huge chunk of our payroll. I cannot stand watching the dude and cannot wait till he is gone.

This first base thing is also sickening and pathetic.
Thanks for everything Pujols.
Dumb shit.

If Donaldson is healthy, I'd check out to see what years and money it would cost to bring him in. Having someone like Donaldson at 3B means Cozart moves to 2B and Fletcher can plug in where needed...that's a lot of productive depth and Ward can continue to work on his game in AAA.

Same thing with Comcast -- they did it to try to deter cord cutters.
I signed up for their unlimited plan which is only 20.00 more per month but even after that, I'm paying about $120+ less for every pay channel and everything else I wanted via Direct TV Now. Best of all, I didn't have to get locked into a contract.

Looks like Betts wins it.
I also like Lindor for sheer excitement. He's one of the best players to watch play these days. Reminds of Ken Griffey Jr's hey days as the smiling face of MLB- just a little kid playing ball out there and just being better than anyone else.
Trout will certainly get some votes. But won't win it.
And, I do think a player leading to a team success is important -- so Mookie Betts......better than 'em all in 2018.

Basically confirms what We all know. 1B is the easiest spot to upgrade

Barrett got a reaction from Tank in AL MVP
How valuable is Trout if when he is on the team we are a 4th place team 20 plus games out and if he wasn't on the team we'd be 5th and 20 plus games out. This year he isn't the MVP. He is the best player on the planet. But this year it isn't by a lot. Betts Martinez and Bregman all deserve a nod over Trout. Sorry.

I understand that concept. I disagree but understand it. If ESPN and baseball references have Betts ahead of Trout in WAR and Fangraphs have them tied. Wouldn't Betts be the better player on the better team this year? Do you not take into consideration how the team did in terms of winning at all?

I think it is different this year being as Betts and Trout are closer in WAR and Boston is going to have 110 plus wins and the Angels might get to 80? I wouldn't have voted for Trout in 2016 either if it is any consolation.
Edit: Fangraphs has Trout and Betts at 9.1 each

Trout is on a team that is finishing 20 plus games out of 1st. The term valuable doesn't apply. So if he was off the team we'd be in last place, with him on the team we are in 4th. Meh... Trout doesn't deserve it this year and that's fine. Maybe if the Angels put together a better team this next year than this year he will deserve it.

Jack Morris is one example I can think of where performance in the World Series - specifically the Game 7, 10 inning shut out against the Braves in 1991 - help his ascent to the Hall of Fame (via the Veterans Committee this year). He worked out of a runner at 3rd, 1 out situation in the 5th and a 2nd and 3rd, no outs situation in 8th (ground to 1B, IBB, and double play) and pitched into the 10th to help secure the championship. His career stats were good, not great, but some things transcend numbers.

If Betts beat Trout by a full 1 WAR, yeah, he should get the vote...record I'd consider peripherally but not much more than, say, stats like RBI.
In 2015 Trout lost to Donaldson despite a 9.4 WAR to 8.5 WAR difference...He lost to Cabrera in 2013 despite 9.0 WAR vs 7.3 WAR and in 2012 to Cabrera despite a 10.5 WAR vs 7.1 WAR.
But, I don't have a vote so my opinion in pretty meaningless.
