  1. Front office scaepgoat, nothing more. Nevin is certainly not a better manager at this point. Maddon will get another job and will win again, i wonder if the same can be said of ourselves. No way were getting anyone here on the short term now or extending anyone so might as well start trading people and do a proper rebuild.
  2. The problem isnt AV and MD making first pitch outs, its that they were even in those spots. when youre down to counting on cast offs and guys that shouldn't be ML starters to get the job done, youre setting yourself up for disappointment. Our roster was incomplete and poorly constructed, as usual, to fit in the budget.
  3. Whats supposed to change? Is there any one thing you can point to and say this is the cause? What do we have to change it to thats any better? I get the anger, im as down on this team as ive literally ever been, just another season of high hopes shat all over, i guess not waiting till September is a blessing.. but honestly what changes make any real difference at this point? People screaming for Maddons head, i dont get that at all... how many managers have we had without it changing now? He has to use what hes given or has available, they have to produce, they arent. Ive never understood how thats the managers fault. Yes hes made a few odd moves but you can bet every one of them was justified by the analytics so are you going to fire the computer? Whos going to take over thats going to do anything different or better? Be careful what you ask for as the only thing we havent done is a complete blow up. Start trading everyone, rebuild it from the ground up.. and yes that would include Trout/Ohtani etc... for whatever you can get and start over. Arte isnt going to spend more, thats beyond contestation at this point, so thats out only other option, is that what you want?
  4. Im sure thats true... but i also think MLB would prefer top let the Rays go to Nashville or somewhere that keeps them in the east so i dont think they see that as ideal, but thats just my opinion. The As seem to prefer staying on Oak, although i dont know why. Ive been assuming for a long time they would end up in Vegas, but if the Angels are in play with that star power, and you are Vegas, what would you do? Its just pure speculation on my part, i know nothing, but i dont think MLB wants to re-align or mess all that up so they will prefer to keep teams in the same general region to avoid that necessity.
  5. Raiders (how many times now?), Rams.. it happens, people leave the LA market for various reasons. MLB would approve a number of option in my opinion, especially for example Mexico City and/or likely Las Vegas. Neither would even require any divisional issues as Mex City is as east as Texas.
  6. And yet its happened how many times in SoCal history? No not in MLB but still. The diea that someone wouldn't leave, is not realistic. Time will tell, i hope im wrong, but if im him, yeah, im looking... from a purely business standpoint it makes absolute sense to check your options.
  7. Sure, people always go to the worst, but he came up with something better, this deal, now thats gone. Hes going to get nothing from the city going forward whether he was involved in the bad parts or not. The stadium is ageing, its inevitable.
  8. I wasnt, till it started dragging out. If hes not able to play for another week the put him on the IL and get a real outfielder up here. This fascination with a roster of MIF playing everywhere is getting really old really fast.
  9. And im pretty sure MLB would LOVE this idea... To assume he isnt going anywhere, is simply not realistic.
  10. Time will tell, but we all know who Arte is and what he covets... losing this deal changes a lot of things.
  11. I wonder where the Angels will be playing in '30... They just torpedoed Artes master plan, im guessing hes already contacting Vegas or other areas dying for baseball. Bravo Ana, when you lose the team, youll know who to blame.
  12. And, we have help on the way.. Stassi coming back, Reyes, Buttrey in the pen... were in a very good place. The only thing i find supremely irritating at this point is the glut of middle infielders playing all over the place.
  13. oh stop this is not going to happen. Every move Maddon has made is defensibly by the numbers, its defined everything hes done. Hes made comments about old style baseball and implied he would use his gut as much as the computer but he hasnt. That means everything hes done was basically right per the stats, he went to the guys he had at that time that fit that option... and they failed. It isnt on Maddon, its on who gave him those options. What is on Maddon is becoming a peripheral to the damned computer instead of using his baseball IQ and experience as he said he would.
  14. I agree 100% with everything said here... and it isnt that i was glad they lost, only that they had been in 1st place with no motivation to address anything even though it was largely smoke and mirrors based on exactly what youve listed here. You are correct, what moves can they actually make internally.. .Stefanic... i think wed all like to see that but thats no guarantee. Buttrey, is he actually ready yet physically? Bachman still needs to build up. Beyond that i think weve pretty much graduated almost anyone close. I too am quite frustrated they didnt do more, the game needs this team in the playoffs desperately, everyone knows this apparently but our own ownership who wont pass some arbitrary line in the sand financially even though they could without it affecting virtually anything. Now all thats left is trading away from an already depleted farm. This is a completely self inflicted wound, like so many others in recent years.
  15. They have said many times that though hes healthy hes still not 100% on his lower body strength so, look for him to keep it going. Im not to worried there near as much as i am other spots.
  16. Oh it absolutely is a good team, a couple of gut punch losses and a poor start dont change that. Im not worried about Iglesias long term, and im not overly bothered by Thors poor start, those things happen. I have worries, but those arent part of that discussion.
  17. Im kind of glad it happened if im being honest. Weve had a lot go right, and i think we were starting confuse luck with brains. A little kick in the nether to remind us we still have some issues to resolve is a good thing.
  18. Were not taking on any more big money deals, isnt that obvious by now? We passed on so many that made so much more sense than this. At this point well be lucky if they extend Ohtani. Ares isnt going about this general payroll range hes comfy with
  19. Honestly, i would rather see them just bring Adell back and let him work on his issues under fire than keep running Mayfield out there. I dont think thats going to happen anytime soon but still. I get the whole "Maddons gonna Maddon" and it isnt his fault that Rojas hit the covid list but this whole anyone can play anywhere thing just really doesnt make a ton of sense to me. It isnt like Mayfield is putting up more than expected numbers to justify it. Give Whitefield those ABs he was hitting 301 with 5 hr and is supposed to have good wheels, let see what he can do.
  20. I understood and agreed with Adell being sent down, BUT... that was somewhat predicated on the assumption that the replacement would be Rojas or a legitimate OF option. If were going to be running out infielders in the OF or some other makeshift lineup i dont really see the sense in that, you might as well bring him back and just let him work thru it on the job. At this point hes going to make some errors, and hes going to K more than he should, but lets also not forget his age. It comes down to this, what better, him in LF or what weve been doing for a lot of the time since he was sent down. I know other issues injuries and such have been a factor, but still, that only illustrates the lack of real depth without him.
  21. That is batshit crazy to have that many from SS... likely mostly squid... so i have to own that and admit i was wrong. Keep running the kid out there and let the rest of the guys worry about the bats. Sidenote, you gotta wonder a little at some point Tor might think of shifting Bichette because, damn.
  22. I wondered the same, guy was in contention for the rotation in ST now suddenly only relegated to garbage games...
  23. Funny who comes out of the woodwork on some posts...
  24. In his own words... "came out of nowhere" and "dont know whats left to show"... but yeah, thats bullshit im sure. Is there ANY content those comments make sense? I dont see one. whats left is obvious to anyone that can read a stat page... but sure be a dick and make it personal.
  25. Its got nothing to do with who posted what
