Gates wins the sauce game in my opinion. I use it for grilling burgers, and it’s just perfect.

I’ll send you a sandwich. Accept it kindly and you are benevolent in a weird twisting of the term I guess?

Kotchman for sure falls into that weird “one random injury seemed to ruin his career momentum” category. He was really lighting it up that one year until he got that concussion. It’s just a phenomenon that would be interesting to research. Seems to happen to a lot of players.

Hadn't really thought about how much of a sliding doors moment that injury was. Yeah, if Kendrys stays healthy and has another good year in 2010 (which it seemed like he was on the way to when he got hurt), we quite possibly skip out on the Pujols contract, and have a likely better and cheaper 1B in Kendrys for another few years. Opens up all sorts of possibilities for other moves too. It really might be the single worst purely baseball-related moment for the Angels in the last decade.

In order to keep everything in the world balanced and stuff, I've eaten beef jerky for lunch pretty much every day for the last week or so. I think I'm gonna go on an Amazon deep dive and just order a bunch of different kinds and see what I like best.

BA has him 12th on their International list this year.
    Denzer Guzman
    Dominican Republic SS Notes: Born: Feb. 8, 2004. B-T: R-R. Ht.: 6-2. Wt.: 178.

Report: Last year the Angels' top international signing was Arol Vera, a physical, switch-hitting shortstop from Venezuela. Their top target in 2020 is Guzman, another physical, offensive-oriented shortstop with a bonus expected to be around $2 million. Guzman makes a lot of contact against live pitching with a loose, easy swing, with the bat speed and physical projection to grow into considerable power as well. His strong arm should play on the left side of the infield, though his defense might fit better at third base.

That would have been freaking fantastic. If it had actually been put into practice though they would have started screening calls pretty freaking quickly.

Ortiz was frustrating. Dude would just look great one game and terrible the next. Seems like Bengie always struggled with getting him in the right head space and following a game plan too. Ervin, while sort of year to year inconsistent early on, has put together a really good career overall.

This article, though it came out a few days ahead of this particular plan, does a good job of explaining why an idea like this isn’t all that reasonable right now. Basically, hundreds of people (at minimum) go into the production of an MLB game, even without any fans to deal with. So we’d have to lock all of those people (who have families, and real life stuff to deal with, and five figure jobs often) into the same hotel bubble or whatever as the players/coaches, along with hotel staff, etc... The idea that they could reasonably keep Covid out of that situation, or that it would be fair to everyone involved, is a bit of a stretch.

It's also with stay at home orders in place to massively slow down its logarithmic progression. When it's a normal flu season, minimal precautions are taken by the general public.
