  1. I feel like none of you guys are single and actively dating. People are into weird shit these days y'all.
  2. I too believe in airing my grievances in a well-appointed, but not gaudy, residence.
  3. Yep. Still gets brought up with the dudes I made that bet with like every few months. I just keep saying "schedule the appointment and I'm there." I think they feel bad about it or something.
  4. @WicketMaiden Regarding the canon cannons, I was thinking something more along the lines of firing old copies of Shakespearean works at each other. Sounds kinda fun.
  5. In all sincerity I think Jose was an awesome dude and I wish him well. Everybody in the org seemed to love him, and he was good with the fans.
  6. Crap, he released a statement before I could finish writing that.
  7. Mota’s statement: ”I’d, uh, as one does in the course of baseball, uh, over executing, uh decisions, in the baseball sense of the career in the off field sense of the word… I am now, given my past with this organization and all around baseball club, making the family, uh, roster move to a basement odds-making facility in the Tropicana. Not the in the baseball legacy of Florida, just the basement of a Las Vegas building. It means “the meadows”. Sounds pretty. Thanks Gubi.”
  8. True. At worst it’s a bit of an ignorant take on a complex subject with no ill-intent. The interplay and lines between race, ethnicity, and religion aren’t always super clear or easy to understand. Someone could be a practicing member of the Jewish religion without having any Jewish ancestry, and someone else could have entirely Jewish ancestry while not being affiliated with the religion in any way. Again, she didn’t mean anything bad by it, and the people acting like this was some sort of overt attack are way overboard here. It’s a misunderstanding at worst.
  9. There’s a couple of good docuseries on Netflix called WWII in Colour and WWII in Color: Road to Victory. The latter has an episode all about the battle of the Atlantic. It’s one of the better explanations/encapsulations of the whole thing I’ve ever seen. Basically the U-Boats dominated at the start of the war, then once Allied tactics and tech caught up (along with the whole enigma thing getting solved) the U-Boats started to get wrecked. The problem compounded itself as experienced crews that were lost got replaced by inexperienced ones, and by the last couple years of the war most of the U-Boats that left home never made it back.
  10. I'll throw the midwest in there too. It's honestly one of the main draws to this area of the country. People tend to treat each other nicely and are actively friendly toward others. It was an absolute culture shock when I first moved here.
  11. That was just his way of letting us know that he's never been to a Golden Corral. It was his Lucille Bluth "How much could a banana possibly cost? 10 dollars?" moment.
  12. Yeah, this is the best I've felt about the bullpen in a given offseason in quite some time. How that plays out in reality is another matter entirely. Grabbing one more consistently reliable middle reliever/setup guy would obviously be ideal.
  13. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League_Baseball_players_suspended_for_performance-enhancing_drugs The vast majority of these guys aren't anywhere close to being HOF-caliber players.
  14. Honestly he’s in amazingly good health for his age. Mentally solid, gets around just fine, etc… one of 11 kids that all made it past 90, with 3 clearing 100.
  15. Add some simple syrup and an orange peel and they call that an Old Fauci.
