  1. Piggybacking on what I said above. And again, I have no idea how this works (maybe @Docwaukee or @Inside Pitch would know). But let's say a few weeks ago Ohtani said "my arm feels sore." And they do an MRI. If it's already torn, is there anyone to really blame? And along with that, if they did an MRI and it wasnt torn, would the scan show "its about to tear"? And if so, do you shut him down? And if thats the case, for how long? I'm just wondering what causes it in the first place. Does the tendon get inflamed, and you have to back off, and it rebounds to normal? Or once it's inflamed (or whatever) is it simply a matter of time before it inevitably snaps?
  2. "You're suspended!" - baseball commissioner "For what?!?" - Angels mi or leaguer "Because I saw you using that needle to inject steroids!" - Commisioner "No man, this is heroin" - Minor leaguer
  3. Out of curiosity, why did Pujols need a special treadmill? I don't remember any particular injury he had when he was here? Especially when Wilson was still around.
  4. Have been home for the past week or so, had to take some time off work. Flew by faster than I expected... didn't get close to half done what I swore I would But made a day to relax and watch movies (haven't done that in years) Watched "Everest". Few years old now. Wasn't at all what I expected it to be. I thought it would be some cheesy action kind of movie. Was really surprised at what it was. Very sad story. And very well done movie. Really recommend it.
  5. Now that the dust from this bad news is settled, I'll ask the question for everyone pissed at the FO (and I don't say this to defend them). Knowing very little, next to nothing about what causes the UCL to tear in the first place (funny enough, my partner at work yesterday has had it twice, and doesn't play baseball), what would the early MRI show? I imagine it would only show "tear or no tear". Meaning either it would still tear of he pitched again, or there was already a tear... so should he have never pitched? I don't know the answer. But if I understand it correctly, I think it was going to tear at some point no matter what, as long as he was pitching baseballs.
  6. I remember my Dad telling me that's story. Not sure if he was there too, or just heard about it.
  7. If Ward did more burpies and wind sprints, his face bones would have been stronger.
  8. Appreciate it. Hopefully things get back to normal soon and I can be back here making bad jokes. Miss you guys.
  9. Also. I quietly predict Ohtani shocks the world, and comes back pitching left handed.
  10. Ive been MIA past few weeks dealing with something at home. So Ive missed all the drama with the team, and all the bad news. Havent gotten a chance to read any of this yet. But first thing that popped into my head when I heard this.... Renfroe. Anyone get it? Here goes. C- Stassi / Ohoppe 1B - Walsh 2B - Drury SS- Neto 3B - Rendon UIF - Urshela LF - Ward CF - Trout DH - Ohtani Honeoable mention - Adell Renfroe is literally the only position guy we have this yesr who didnt have a major injury Yet. Its pretty insane how badly snakebit this team was this year. And sadly, I honestly feel like we would have been in this thing if we had even half of those guys healthy. Im not really sure theres anyone to blame. We can be pissed at Rendon for sure. But the overwhelming bulk of these are the Gods pissing on us.
  11. Well obviously my jinx didn't work. These guys suck. Boohoo! (No, seriously, these guys suck) But had the best day in a week today and I'm all smiles. You get heavy jabbed in the face and you realize what's important.... and I had a phenomenal Saturday. Nothing but some undercooked pasta, some piano music on alexa, and a few crazy dogs can't make better.... ... and family home and safe. A smile from a loved one in that scenario is fucking platinum gold. You guys enjoy your Saturday, and smile because you're reading this. Anything past this part is gravy.
  12. That's crazy. Don't know why, just seems like sci-fi to me. OC was wide open and orange groves back then. I just picture people living there in 1920 being more "we need to survive" than "read Whuthering Heights and we're going to test you next week" And top that off with the fact HOF guys made their way out here... Brea and Fullerton. Crazy.
  13. But holy sh*t can these guys give us something to smile about right now? As I said in another thread, it IS just a game. And spoiler alert, none of us are part of it. It's a bunch of strangers playing and us paying for it, and win or lose, we win or gain nothing. There's a lot more important things out there to get your endorphins up or down. This is a cheap shot, but everyone needs to think about the good times with Lou, and Brandon. And then think about the bad times they had without us.... And I know thats a shitty thing to say, but it should hopefully make everyone nod their head and say "yeah, good point." Plenty of worse things out there than seeing strangers suck at baseball. Sorry, I have my own thing going on at home right now, so I'm probably saying this out of frustration. And it's not at all aimed at anyone reading this. Not trying to preach and say "who cares about baseball, Im having an issue in my life!" More just to remind everyone to still enjoy the rest of their night, and the weekend, regardless of what our favorite team does. Don't let it affect your real life is what I'm saying. That said, it's been a shit week, Angels. Can you please try and win a freaking game please? Everyone be safe out there. TORS
  14. Trust me, and this goes for anyone reading this. Life is short.... tragedy doesn't just hit someone else, or old people. Make the most of everyday, and don't neglect the important people in your life...
  15. Not only is that crazy, but I'm kind of blown away (don't know why) that Fullerton even had a high school in 1920.
  16. I'm sure there's plenty more of you that deserve a hug and a handshake, but thank you @mrwicked, @Tank and our friend from across rhe pond @WicketMaiden for being there for Lou behind the scenes as he was going through all of this.
  17. Can't believe thus. Can't believe we lost another the same week. Brandon was another one of my buddies on here. Great sense of humor. Loved his off the wall take on a lot of things. RIP Brandon. Way in the hell too young.
  18. I also want to add here that it makes me smile to know Lou saw what we were saying, and that his family was able to, as well. Just wish Lou would have called us all dumbass one last time.
  19. @stpat373, as I said in the other thread, thank you so much reaching out to us directly. I guess it "feels" like a bit more closure to hear from you, Lou's blood. Your brother was LOVED on here. And still will be. Glad he's not suffering anymore. And I hope you and your family are OK. You guys hang tough. Please dont be a stranger.
  20. @stpat373, welcome to the board.... and also, apologies for getting mixed up with us knuckleheads. Thank you so much for coming on here and reaching out. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying reading that made me tear up, and smile, at the same time. You knew your brother better than any of us here, so you know how great he was. He's unreplaceable, and this place won't ever be the same now. But damn did he make it good times for everyone. Big hug to you and your family. And please don't be a stranger. But again... I have to apologize in advance for having to read some of our really stupid ideas on here.
