  1. Second to last in OPS, and one of four teams with just 1 HR so far. About as anemic as it gets. And in the future, anyone who tries to make a claim about results in ST meaning anything should be publicly ridiculed.
  2. The debate is valid any time of the year, but if anyone has changed their mind after these first 2 games, that's just silly.
  3. Yeah, Trevor Bauer didn't even make their OD rotation, which us nuts. Don't know if we have what it would take to get him, but I'm betting Eppler has already made that call.
  4. Recovery is actually closer to 18 months. So if he has TJ surgery he's not just done for 2016 but would be lucky to pitch in 2017.
  5. Tropeano for the next couple of weeks, and then hopefully Skaggs will be ready. This is a tough blow. Heaney being a legit #2/3 guy for us was one of the keys to the season.
  6. It's one thing to lose to those guys, it's another to look absolutely pathetic while doing so. Go watch a good offense face a top shelf pitch - at the very least they come with an approach and make them work.
  7. I like how you can hear the disgust in Victor's voice already. Don't blame him.
  8. put him in the column of guys we had for the perfect window of time.
  9. I can't remember it ever happening.Good call, Strad.
  10. Doggies won big last night, Harper homered, Texas and Houston both won their first game - all this in addition to the Angels getting beaten like a rented mule last night. Wonderful start to the season :/
  11. Arrietta is a stud AND he also got the benefit of some borderline calls that Richards did not. Garrett did pout an annoying amount last night - he's got some maturing to do. Angels hit into some tough luck early on and that seemed to set the tone. I'm actually not worried about the bullpen at all. These kind of games tend to make pens looks bad.
  12. He's normally a pretty intelligent, level-headed poster - that was batshit insane.
  13. Pretty incredible that the Cubs were able to bounce back from that demoralizing spring training loss yesterday. Notti must be in shock.
  14. a) his starting lineup didn't play the entire game the Angels' minor leaguers came back against the Cubs' minor league pitchers c) it's a bunch of 20-something guys playing a game that doesn't count - wouldn't put too much stock in it d) Jake Arrietta is pitching tonight e) you need to give up on this silly line of thinking about ST games, you're better than this
  15. I'm all for optimism, and I feel good about the season too. But I think it's silly to believe that what happened in a meaningless game yesterday has anything to do with tonight's game.
  16. Middle of the pack seems about right for this team right now. But, like most teams, I think they have the potential to be a top 10.
  17. i like the world series rematch. there's 3 regular season games on Sunday - would seem to me, if I were MLB and I was trying to market my sport, the Cubs/Angels game would be a prime game to showcase and create excitement for the season. The Cubs are probably the most hyped/popular team in MLB right now, and you have them going up against Mike Trout and a great pitching match-up of Arrietta and Richards. Would make a lot more sense for that game to be played on Sunday when more people were paying attention, than buried on a Monday night.
  18. also, nice job mlb of putting your best young players on the big stage. You have the chance for an opening day game Sunday afternoon/evening (prime time) featuring Arrietta vs Richards, and Trout/Pujols/Simmons/Bryant/Rizzo et al, but instead you put it on Monday night at 10pm EST, after half the country has gone to bed. Well done.
  19. just heard something on the radio that apparently this is the first time in MLB history that two teams have played an exhibition game and then the next day played a regular season game against one another.
  20. There's definitely something fun about the start of this season. It's kind of cool to be overlooked and have zero expectations put on the team.
  21. Something tells me our pen is going to get a lot of work and there'll be lots of shuffling between Anaheim and Salt Lake.
  22. Really curious to see how he does this year. Hoping for a solid season.
  23. 95% of the 1B in the league pick that. And Escobar gave a look like he thought the same thing.
