  1. If we get 15 starts out of Skaggs this year it will be a victory. Heaney has become more concerning at this point.
  2. The fans being babies certainly hasn't effected personnel decisions - the comment was aimed more at the reaction of many of the superfans on this board who think such a mic shouldn't even be contemplated. And yeah the Angels scouting track record scares me too, but to me it beats the alternative of hoping and praying we turn water into wine with the current roster.
  3. No, thinking they were one or two players away from contending instead of selling and restocking is how they got into this disaster of a situation. It's reset button time. But Angels fans are babies and don't want to part with their favorite toy, so yay mediocrity.
  4. One more inning of Weaver. That seems like s good idea.
  5. the book on Trout is to throw him off speed stuff right now. He's going to have to adjust.
  6. This isn't the NBA, one player just can't make that big of a difference. The Angels are several players away from being good. There's nobody coming up from the minors to help out any time soon. But a couple key FA signings in 2018 will do the trick? I just don't get it.
  7. No doubt there's risk in it, and I don't think it's really possible to get "fair" value for him. But to me, rolling the dice on that and the other prospects you get from trading Richards, Calhoun, etc. is safer than praying that this core we have now somehow starts playing better. Guys like Gia, Gentry, Escobar, Shonemaker, etc are what they are and they're not very good. Look, I get not wanting to trade Trout and who knows if would work out. But to dismiss the idea out of hand given our current situation, is foolish and a bit head in the sand IMO.
  8. I don't get it . . do you not know that the Dodgers have one of the best farm systems in baseball. All the teams you mentioned are in completely different situations than the Angels. Objectively, I think it's fair to say the Angels have one of the bleakest futures in the game right now.
  9. 6+ years without a single playoff W, a major league team full of holes, the worst minor league system in the bigs, and a maxed out payroll with tens of millions committee to either underperforming players or guys not even on the team. And the fans don't won't to trade a guy because one day he might wear our hat into the hall of fame. This is why people think the Angels and their fans are a joke.
  10. this team is bereft of talent at every level and maxed out budget-wise. It's like if you went bankrupt and still had a raw Ferrari sitting in the garage. You don't keep the Ferrari and try to survive on nothing - you sell the ****er and start over. I feel like the people who want to keep trout no matter what fail to see what dire stairs this organization is in.
  11. I think he'll be a hall player but I'm having my doubts as to whether he's really a once in a generation player. And I don't think that's worth stalling our franchise for a decade.
  12. It'd be horrendous. But at least there'd be a horizon. Besides, is it much fun to watch now?
  13. Meh. Bullpen isn't very good but that's being magnified right now by the lack of offense. Most bullpens are going to look shitty when a team struggles to score 2-3 runs per game.
  14. You can see the future? When do we become good again?
  15. I'm starting to lean towards no. I think I'd be in favor of trading every player of value, including #27. This franchise needs a reset button. And Trout is amazing but I'm starting to feel like he's not Mickey Mantle. Fielding a patched together mediocre team hoping to catch lightning in a bottle every season for the next 6 years doesn't sound like a smart plan. I'll gladly eat shit come July if the Angels are in first and Trout is hitting .300 with 25 HRs but I think we all know that's a pipe dream.
  16. Not a scioscia fan but who was he supposed to put in at that point? Morin was left but he's been pretty bad so far.
  17. I'd rather watch a team with awful pitching and a great offense lose 10-8 every night instead of this 3-2 bullshit. At least then there'd be a lot going on. These games are boring as ****.
  18. 3 games below .500 and facing Felix tomorrow. Awesome.
  19. Feels like there's a stat like this every game. What a horribly inept offense.
  20. **** Alvarez but when your 5th or 6th reliever gives up the 3rd run of the game in extras, **** the offense even more.
