  1. Congrats, sir - one of the stupider things said on here all year long.
  2. At the game tonight, breaking news, guys - Mike Scioscia is a shit manager.
  3. next year's rotation to start the season will almost certainly be: Richards, Santiago, Heaney, Wilson, Weaver/Shoemaker I think it's a toss-up see who has the better spring between Shoe and Weaver, with Weaver getting the benefit of the doubt because of his vet status obviously Skaggs and Tropeano are right there if any of those guys gets hurt (or it's obvious even in ST that Jered is completely toast) Skaggs is going to get moved along very slowly. Maybe some starts in ST, but almost certain to start the season in AAA with a limit on his innings. If he's pitching great and the big club needs the help, I could see him coming up in May/June. I'm not ready to call 2014 a fluke or career year for Richards. He didn't get a normal ST or start to this year, so I want to see what he does with a full training camp and ramp up to the season, more than a year removed from that injury. I still have hope that he's a legit ace in this league.
  4. Skaggs hasn't pitched since 2014 and is coming off TJ surgery. There's no way they're going to count on him being a regular in the rotation next year. Also, Wilson's value is extremely low right now. Why trade him? you're paying him anyway, might as well see if he comes back strong. If so, you have the option of trading him and not eating so much salary.
  5. yes I know. I'm worried they will re-sign him. Like I said, he'll be relatively cheap and there's a comfort level here.
  6. I'm worried Iannetta will be back - he'll be cheap and I can see the FO (whomever it is) justifying it by saying he's due for a bounce back year. And I don't see any way that CJ doesn't come back, at least for the start of the season to prove that he's healthy and effective. I wouldn't really see the logic in trading him this offseason anyway.
  7. if Trout had hit a few HRs the past month but still struggled like this, I'd say it's just a slump and he's physically fine. But over a month without a HR for a guy that strong? I now feel strongly that his wrist must be hurting him. His power has completely evaporated.
  8. admin . . can we get an immediate expulsion here? We've got an angels wing usage.
  9. having been a die-hard fan during ALL of the Physioc years, Victor . . . Orsillo . . . it's all gravy, baby.
  10. Losing hope for this season is one thing, but I'm having a tough time being optimistic about the next 2-3 years. This team is weighed down with some awful contracts and not many prospects close to being ready to contribute in a meaningful way. Unless Arte is going to go all Doyers and spend like there's no tomorrow, I just don't see this team being able to fix its deficiencies any time soon. Add to that the Scioscia issue and what has become a revolving door GM position, and it gets even worse. I think those assuming Scioscia will retire this offseason are fooling themselves. I just don't see any major changes happening anytime soon. And to top it off, Trout - who through everything the last few years has been one the consistent beacon of hope - is mired in the worst slump of his career and we're getting close to the point where expectations for him might have to be adjusted. I don't know man, I'm sure a new winning streak would make me feel better, but I'm finding it really hard to feel good about this organization right now.
  11. that's what I thought. But then, we have so many crappy IFs it's easy to lose track.
  12. only thing preventing me from going with Disgusted is one Michael Nelson Trout (and even he has me kind of disgusted recently).
  13. it's a combination of Trout making fewer attempts and thus being a little rusty in terms of getting a good read/jump, some bad "luck" with catchers making perfect throws, and Trout being probably a quarter to a half step slower because of the change in his physique.
  14. Erstad is one of my favorite all-time Angels. That said, I imagine he'd be closer to the Scioscia mold of mangers than many of us here would be comfortable with.
  15. I'd love to see the team go out and get a legit two-way C. The team hasn't had one since Benjie Molina. But how many of those guys are there in the league these days, and who of that group is available. Outside of Posey and I guess Schwarber now (though he won't be a C for much longer), what C is going to make a big impact on offense? Not saying the team doesn't need a better C, I just don't know that it will do much to improve the lineup.
  16. Given Gordon's production the last couple years, and his low cost (he made $2.5M this year, I believe first year of arbitration), I imagine it would take premium prospects or MLB talent to get him, neither of which the Angels have. He also doesn't walk at all - his BA this year is .332 and his OBP is .357, which is a joke. He's never been a great BA guy, so if that number comes down at all, so does his value. In other words, he's at his absolute peak value right now and sure to regress. And when he does, you're talking about a pretty mediocre leadoff hitter. Not one you'd want to have given up premium talent for.
  17. The offense right now is absolutely abysmal, and the solution is to replace C and 2B - two low-impact offensive positions - and that's it?
  18. agreed. it's actually a bad trade for the Astros. You have to remember Trout is now making big bucks, and Correa, Springer, and Keuchel are all pre-arb cost-controlled guys. I wouldn't want the Angels to ever trade Trout, but if they were actually able to get that deal, from a purely practical baseball standpoint, they'd be stupid not to do it.
  19. yeah, that's what I thought. God he was awful.
  20. that guy is one of my least favorite Angels players ever. someone remind me, who signed him, Stoneman or Reagins?
  21. in fairness to Scioscia, guys, this is his first game managing the team and he doesn't have a real good feel yet for which RP are best for which spots.
  22. Oh cool, Salas into face Miggy and the Martinez bros. That should end well.
  23. Alden Gonzalez ‏@Alden_Gonzalez 1m1 minute ago Sean Newcomb is thru seven no-hit innings in Double-A, walking one, striking out six and throwing 64 (!) pitches.
  24. Alden Gonzalez ‏@Alden_Gonzalez 3m3 minutes ago Sean Newcomb thru six no-hit innings, with 51 pitches.
  25. You just offended my 65 year-old aunt Nancy.
