Angels need a new owner.
-
Bookies don’t even have the Angels as a top 8 favorite.
I see no scenario where Ohtani picks the Angels.

Follow the A's lately?
A’s are awful. But they weren’t even trying to compete this year.

Pretty sure Arte Moreno is the only owner capable of such a remarkable feat of absolute incompetence.
This degree of epic fail is really impressive!

A national joke. Thats what Arte is.
Mike Trout went 5-5 with 4 HR and Ohtani went 3-5 with 2 HR whilst pitching 7 no hit innings. Together they became the first duo to do something on the same team since 1887.
Yet the Angels still lost as their owner is beyond help and any chance of redemption for his sins against the club’s fans.

This team will continually be stuck with 70-75 wins as long as Arte is owner.
Arte is the problem.
the angels are simply irrelevant.

The LA Angels…. The Fyre Festival of MLB teams.

It’s Arte Moreno. Obviously. Is this even debatable?!

Can we please waive Arte Moreno?

Come on you can’t Monday Morning Quarterback this one. The reasons they kept him have been well documented and nobody could have predicted a second TJ surgery.
I’m hindsight yeah they should have unloaded him for a solid package. It is what it is. Full rebuild is needed
I was stunned when they didn’t trade him at the deadline. This team isn’t good enough to reach the wildcard even if the team stayed healthy.
it was completely delusional.
now the rebuild will take longer. Another decade of mediocrity at best.
Angels are the Colorado Rockies of the AL. We are a joke. A laughingstock.
arte. Please leave. Now.

As long as Arte owns the team nothing matters. Nothing will change until he is gone.
Eternal mediocrity.
-
Blame Arte. This team will be a joke until he sells the team.

Angels should have traded him at the deadline. This organization is so incompetent it’s almost unbelievable.

See you on the boards on the evening of March 30th...
I used to post here pretty frequently. I used to watch 100+ games a year. The Napoli trade really negatively impacted how much time I allocated to angels baseball. The Albertross contract further reduced my interest.
I have watched maybe 10 games in the last 5 years. This team outside of Trout and Ohtani is just boring.
Ownership is clearly clueless and can’t figure out how to make an expanded playoffs with 2 of the best players in baseball history.
It’s stunning how incompetent the team has been for the last decade. Almost hard to be this bad.

Re-signing Ohtani was the right move up until today. Now the smart move is to trade him... something they wont do. Letting him walk is probably the best we can hope for.
If it’s clear by the trade deadline the team doesn’t have a legitimate chance (40% or above) to win the AL West then Ohtani simply has to be traded for a rebuild. Arte will mess this up too.

It might not be as bad as you think. There are a lot of uncertainties surrounding the team. And I have a feeling that after the initial talks, Arte realized that it was going to drive down the price of what he was going to get.
I mean, if you were a buyer. Would you pay a premium for a team looking at a wrongful death case, possible loss of a lucrative tv deal, possible suit from a city, and other stuff going on? Not to mention interest rates and the economy.
Once the climate becomes better, I bet the team comes back on the market again.
I don’t disagree. But the lack of a long term stadium plan is a huge issue for anybody looking to acquire the club. And who knows what happens with the FBI investigation into the city of Anaheim.

Maddon wasn’t the right choice for this team. Doesn’t make his observations about the organization less valid.

I wonder how the prospective bidders feel?
I’d be pretty mad if I spent 5 months digging into a potential purchase of the team, only for the team to get pulled off the market.
It’s relatively unimportant, but it can’t be a good thing for the future.
Doesn’t really matter. Deals like this frequently fall through.
-
The Angels are projected to win 78.5 games this year by most bookies. And this assumes Trout and Ohtani are with the team.
It’s remarkable how poorly this team has been put together outside of those 2 generational players since 2010. Tragic.
-
Are people forgetting Maddon’s criticisms of the organization?
The Angels simply don’t have a coherent baseball strategy. Free agency and trades are seemingly based off Arte’s emotions and whomever he dislikes at the moment (Boras).
I knew this was going to be bad after the Napoli/Vernon Wells trade. History has clearly shown my skepticism on the competency of this lot to be warranted.

How do you think Arte feels?

Arte is simply the worst owner in the history of professional sport. His incompetence is unparalleled. The GOAT of incompetence.
Imagine how good this team would be in 2-3 years if we traded Ohtani in the summer of 2022.
Instead we get nothing and get to watch Ohtani join the Hall of Fame as a Dodger.
message to Arte. Get lost. Sell the team. You are disgusting.
Arte likely is “Too blessed to be Stressed!”
