Time to suck harder for more draft $. Lose to win!

If Scioscia is out after this year I could see the new regime work with the FO and ask Lozano to check around baseball to see if anybody would have interest in Albert if he were DFAed.
If Scioscia leaves the club I would be shocked if TheAlbertross was on a MLB roster entering 2020. Shocked.

Without question.

I like the concept of signing Marwin Gonzalez... obviously depends on price.
I’d be rather surprised if Matheny got another managerial gig. Very surprised.
Machado likely lands the biggest deal in MLB history this fall. 10 years/$280 million may be the starting point. Phillies have the need and financial resources to go higher.

Norris isn’t a good clubhouse guy FWIW

You avoid surgery if at all possible. TJ doesn’t have a 100% success rate.
the Angels and Ohtani are absolutely playing this the right way.

We don't have a top 10 prospect the Mets would require to head line a package. They are looking for a 80 grade prospect + others in a return.

Pretty sure I'm going to need to see a "long-form" birth certificate of believe that is his real name. Just saying. This is a conspiracy actually worth Arpaio's time.

Greinke was fine but he was a rental, deGrom has 2 more years. Haren dad 2 good and average year for us.
Just because deGrom is 30 doesn't mean anything Verlander is 35, Nolan pitched into his mid 40s. Everyone ages differently.
How dare you forget to mention the great, 45-year-old Bartolo Colon.

The Tigers did last year.
Tigers were shedding payroll under new ownership. Given the NY media the Wilpons would need a legit haul t move Degrom.

This sucks. Time to start preparing for the EPL. Go Spurs!

It seems like Arte has largely stayed out of baseball decisions since landing the Albertross and Hamilton. Good.

IMO the best we could hope for (before today) would be a similar deal to what the Rangers got from the Dodgers for Darvish last trade deadline. Willie Calhoun. A top 100 prospect B level prospect. Except Darvish already got TJS over with so that risk isn't there anymore vs Richards and the high risk involved with his arm.
Calhoun was a B prospect when he was moved? Wow, you sure are an incredibly strict grader. Sickels has him as a B+/A- entering this year.

If the Mariners win 93+ games this year DiPoto likely deserves the honor of Executive of the Year.
-
If Richards was healthy through mid July with a 3.21 ERA we could have landed more than a B prospect. Especially if the SP Market is thin this summer.

Richards just cost himself a lot of money. He should have been negotiating a 2 year extension with the Angels in May
Apparently it was a hamstring issue today. Not an arm issue. Maybe he did talk to the Angels about an extension and decided it was better to wait out till free agency?
-
You absolutely should not trade any prospects for players that would not be in the team’s 2019 plans.

Could be because a lot of pitchers coming from Little League through High School throw a lot of innings year round leading up to them being drafted...add in time in the minors and you have a lot of mileage on an arm at a young age
This. That plus kids know the harder they throw the more $ they will receive when drafted. Radar guns were rarely used until the 1980s.

Why does everybody have so many problems with their elbow on the Angels. Really that rarely happens anywhere else. There must be some reason.
Proof the Angels have more TJ surgeries of impact players than most other teams?
could also be a result of the team taking more risk with draft prospects to make up for a lackluster system the past 7 years or so.

Machado likely ends up as a 1B in 3 years. I would definitely shy away from locking him up to a 8-10 year deal at $30 mill a year (likely market price).
