"Taking out the trash day" is Friday afternoon. That's where all news goes to die. I learned that from The West Wing. Looking for the announcement then.

Agreed. Chacin's curve always seemed a bad match with the thin air. Lifetime road ERA of 3.24 - a full run lower than his home ERA. And the best part is, given his release, the acquiring team only has to pay major league minimum - the Rockies are on the hook for the rest. Get 'er done, Jerry.

To appreciate just how absurd forecasting our roster three years ahead, let's take a trip in the Wayback Machine to the Opening Day Roster of three years ago: Rotation: Jered Weaver, Dan Haren, Ervin Santana and C.J. Wilson. (Four man rotation through mid-April.) Relievers: Jordan Walden, Scott Downs, LaTroy Hawkins, Kevin Jepsen, Jason Isringhausen, Hisanori Takahashi and Rich Thompson. Catchers: Chris Iannetta and Bobby Wilson. Infielders: Pujols, Howie Kendrick, Erick Aybar, Trumbo, Callaspo, Morales, Izturis and Amarista. Outfielders: Vernon Wells, Peter Bourjos, Torii Hunter and Bobby Abreu.

Don't look now but Giavotella is now listed on the Angels website #1 on the depth chart at 2B. Rutledge was listed as #1 a few days ago. It's not official or anything, but if whoever is curating the Angels website felt inclined to change it, that has to representative of something...

Andrew Heaney will be a 5th starter at best.

I posted this a week ago over in the Hangout forum, but I don't think that forum gets nearly the traffic that this forum does. This league is Yahoo-hosted (I actually prefer Yahoo to ESPN in this regard): I have one slot open in my seven-year-old, twelve-team H2H points-based keeper league. It's a $125 buy-in. $100 goes directly to the prize pool, $25 is a refundable deposit on transactions, which cost $0.25 apiece (100 max for the season). Transaction fees go to the prize pool too - all monies returned. Hosted by Yahoo. You can keep up to four players in the same round they were drafted last year (starting next year, there is a one-round escalator per year, so your 10th round draft pick this year becomes a 9th round pick next year...) You can keep players for up to three years after they are drafted. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a competitive fantasy baseball league. It's an energetic league with active owners and lots of transactions. Email me or message me here if you're interested. My email is on the flyer (here: http://bit.ly/Dugout2015). Hope you can join us!

US Little League champs stripped of title
Capital_Dave replied to Troll Daddy's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
Yeah, what Vegas Halo Fan said. Feel GOOD for the Mountain Ridge Little League kids who actually deserved the national title. Of course they don't get the Sports Illustrated cover. Or the visit with President Obama. Or the parades. Or the appearance on The Tonight Show. Or the visits with celebrities. Or getting to go to the World Series. Yeah. I don't feel bad for the Jackie Robinson team. At all. -
MLB's Awful Blackout Rules Are Finally Under Attack In Court
Capital_Dave replied to NrM's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
I brought this up with Jerry Dipoto at Fanfest last year. He acted like the extent of the issue (and especially how it affected those of us in Las Vegas) was completely news to him. Amazingly, he actually followed up with me via email several weeks into the season. Said he had looked into it but that it was above his pay grade, essentially, and that it was an issue that the owners would be taking up in the future. Not much of a promise to do anything, but I did appreciate receiving an email from him. (I was actually unreasonably giddy about receiving the email.) And now I have his email address so I can send him unsolicited trade ideas. (Though I haven't actually worked up the nerve to do so quite yet.) -

What does the Padres line-up look like now?
Capital_Dave replied to Sam Sanchez's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
This is the more important Padres lineup: 1. A. Cashner 2. T. Ross 3. I. Kennedy 4. O. Despaigne 5. R. Erlin Team had the second best ERA in the league last year. Yep, with these offensive changes they'll be legit in 2015. But they have to get past the Giants and Dodgers, a pretty tall order... -
So what are they planning to do with A-Rod? That's a ton of money ($21M '15, $20M '16, $20M '17) to leave sitting on the bench... then again it is the Yankees...

Heaney cost-controlled through 2020. Wow, Richards/Shoe/Heaney/Skaggs at the top of the rotation in 2016. Nice, young, cheap starting pitching. -

Love Howie Kendrick but LOVE Andrew Heaney more! Great trade. Heaney cost controlled for years and years. -
That was an interesting post, it really gave me BODYARMOR a new perspective on Mike Trout's offseason BODYARMOR BODYARMOR training regimen.
