  1. California Uber Alles - Dead Kennedys I am Governor Jerry Brown My aura smiles and never frowns Soon I will be president California Über Alles Now it is nineteen eighty-four Knock-knock at your front door It's the suede denim secret police They have come for your uncool niece...
  2. No doubt, but the post I quoted seemed to imply something like an orchestrated scheme by surrounding cities and not just the one riverbed action by the county.
  3. I'm wondering if this is just perception? Is there any plausible information that corroborates this? There have been documented cases of homeless and indigent patient dumping and cities carry some potential liability for that sort of thing. Just wondering if this is just "word on the street" or something more tangible.
  4. Nonie was #7, Marsh #5. Who was #6? Nevermind, Middleton
  5. Centaurs worldwide are ecstatic. Free at last.
  6. Hoping he does well. Gotta root for the older guy trying to make it happen by being crafty because the tools of his youth are gone. Just not on the Angels.
  7. Wow, the best So. Korea can go is 1-2 so they won't make it out of this round as the tiebreakers go against them. One of the best things about the tournament is watching the Japan/S. Korea match up and now that wont happen. Nice to see new teams rise to the task but this is disappointing.
  8. I was disappointed that no ho's were provided. Why call it a ho-tel if there are no ho's.
  9. HB, enjoyed your other posts in this thread but this one isn't quite right. The tea ceremony has very little to do with drinking tea, taste or sensation. In fact a bitter type of tea is used and it doesn't taste as good as teas that are popularly used. It is about focus on perfection of preparation and economy of movement/function. Meant to be enjoyable to the guest but enjoyable in the zen sense.
  10. Cones of silence so you don't have to hear the inane conversation of the people behind you. and more
  11. The question should be how much does AZ have to retain for Eppler to even think about a trade. Also, I don't like that the contract runs into 2021. We'll be needing money then for some other little contract.
  12. As much as I am pro-DH, I've yet to meet a hardcore fan of an NL team that doesn't abhor the thought of switching over. Its not something that MLB can do without NL fans going apeshit.
  13. I ditched Directv for SlingTV because all I really need is FSW/Prime, NBC Sports and seasonally ESPN (just for college bowl season) & BeIN sports (MotoGP season). 25/mo is a great deal. The main drawback and it is huge, that they don't provide and actively disallow dvr use. This has really changed the way I watch sports for the worse but thats the trade off for paying almost $100/mo less. On the plus side, many of the channels have their best programming on demand e.g. I can binge watch the best shows from FX & AMC. Someone mentioned a cloud DVR with the PS VUE. Does that include sports programming like Angels/Kings/Ducks or are there some limitations?
  14. I agree that mound visits to calm a pitcher down, coordinate signals or discuss baserunning should be severely restricted. Pressure on the pitcher needs to be cranked up, not dissipated. This isn't little league, coordinate your signals and baserunning strategies on your own time or suffer the consequences. Not sure what the Players Union would say about that though.
  15. Just to piggyback off of your comments Scotty, these are all going to improve the the viewing experience for most fans except perhaps some die hards. Baseball, as great as it is, only has the ball in play for less than 20 minutes over the course of a game. That ball in play time doesn't get affected by these changes, but the filler needs to come back down to more traditional levels. The runner starting on second base seemed aimed at limiting extra-innings at the minor league level where limits make a lot of sense even if the runner idea may not. I seriously doubt that will be ever seriously considered for MLB. I'm pretty sure the minimum batters thing was a fan proposal not an actual league proposal.
  16. Joyce had the most annoying strike call in history. Sounded like an eagle with a hernia passing a gall stone.
  17. To implement a minimum number of batters a pitcher sees there would have to be a consequence for taking a pitcher out before the minimum, injury or not. You can't just give injured pitchers a pass because you'd be encouraging faking to get around the rule. The NFL had to address faking injuries to stop the clock late in games and this would be along the same lines. I'd rather see a pitch clock than pitchers faking it.
