I also feel that the punishment was so inconsistent with the precedent set for others that were magically rehabilitated because they said sorry yet actually charged with a crime in many cases. 
Ozuna choked his wife in front of police and then did a diversion program so they dropped the charges.  He was suspended for 20 games without pay.  He apologized to his team and the fans and then was brought back without even a peep. 
Bauer had rough sex, was never charged, and appears to have been set up.  He acted indignant and got suspended without pay for 2 seasons.

I feel like the unpaid suspension was a back room deal to benefit the Dogs who probably expressed to the league that they were going to release him no matter what.  So they did them a favor.  It seemed like it was more based on the fact that Bauer wasn't and isn't sorry and essentially wouldn't eat shit because he was thoroughly convinced he did nothing wrong.  
So essentially the league couldn't get him to apologize for being a sexual weirdo in the eyes of most.   So they punished him because it caused them bad press.  

Kobe raped a girl and people grew to love him again. You always get a pass if you sport really well. 

I can see someone like the Rangers picking up Bauer if available.  

And Deshaun Watson won't ever play QB again in the NFL.

Ok so here's my thing. Apparently, this wasn't assault as most come to see it. Bauer is just kinky AF and ally afterward, some girl didn't like it. 
Having said that, teammates either love him or hate him. It's feels like more than anything, MLB penalized him because he embarrassed them by exposing the ball doctoring that was going on, and dominated when he started doing exactly what Gerrit Cole was doing. 
 If he can shut up and pitch.... Maybe.

(Davidson is out of options, so I'm not sure what to do with him. Maybe he gets the 6th spot in the rotation or maybe he's a reliever. Or maybe he's a reliever who makes spot starts. Or maybe they DFA him. Who knows?)

You'll note that I am not putting a true 4th OFer on the team because the Angels keep talking about how so many of their IFers can also play the corner OF (pretty much every single one of them except for Rendon and Velazquez), so I am thinking that's what they're going to do. I think they could really use Velazquez for his speed and defense, more than having someone like Adell or Moniak as a 4th OF. Also, lets those guys play every day at AAA.

They also take about 1500 plate appearances from the group that produced -7.0 WAR last year.  
WAR costs 10m per.  probably more now as I haven't seen the calc in awhile.  You get half of that -7.0 taken away plus the 5 ish they're projected for and you're getting around 8 wins by adding those guys.  Conservatively.  That's the impact of depth for this team.  It doesn't work like that for every team but when you have almost no position players in the upper minors who could step in and capably fill a spot with 0-1 wins, it's a huge delta.  Would you spend 30m a year for 8 wins?  

Someone's pedigree doesn't necessarily indicate what they would do, but that said, I am a huge fan of how the Braves have built and constructed their team, and I was hoping to see Minasian use similar ideas and strategies over here.
I think he has, so far, employed a number of them.  I'm a fan of how he has gone about trying to build this team this offseason.  Even if the results don't follow (shit does happen), I think the process and decision making he has shown have been very solid, and I hope the new owner gives him more time here (as opposed to firing him immediately and replacing him with "their guy.")

If/when Rendon is hurt, I would think we'd see the following:   
vs RHP:  1B Walsh, 2B Drury, SS Rengifo, 3B Urshela.  If we have the lead late in games, Fletcher can sub in at SS.
vs LHP:  1B Drury, 2B Rengifo, SS Fletcher, 3B Urshela.
The key difference with how Minasian has constructed this team is that it doesn't fall apart now if Rendon is hurt.  Even if a second player is hurt, the depth is good enough to keep things afloat.  
So let's say that Rendon and Fletcher are out.  Then you roll with 1B Walsh, 2B Drury, SS Rengifo, 3B Urshela.  Soto (or Velazquez) can get promoted then and play at that point, but at least they become players that are promoted after injuries, as opposed to being counted on from the start.

Maybe, although Vasgersian was beating the Drury to the Angels drum the past few days, and then they obviously signed him today.
It seems like Perry loves to get input from people, so I wonder if he ever confides in Gubicza, since he's a former MLB pitcher who works for the team.

Maybe he's betting on some increased value in putting the ball in play with the new shift rules.
