Remember when Albert began his Angels career with a home-run drought that lasted more than a month? Ahh, the memories. Signs of things to come.

That makes sense. 
Man I always hoped that Pujols would age like fine wine into an Edgar Martinez type DH. Great BA and OBP, declining power numbers. 
Oh well. Maybe Pujols really is 55 or 60 years old. 

I remember seeing discussion on this during his first few seasons here. I believe it has something to do with bat speed. As his bat speed slows down, he has trouble catching up to pitches that he would have fouled off in his 20s. So he doesn't put together longer at bats, and doesn't get as many opportunities to wait on "his pitch."

This is what I don't get about Pujols @Inside Pitch. 
I totally understand a player showing less power numbers or batting average as they age, but the walk rate and plate discipline drop really boggles my mind. 
Maybe he was trying too hard when he first got here, his first month in an Angels uniform wasn't a great first impression...but hell you'd think he'd settle into the player he has always been eventually. 

This made me lol, only because of the thought of Albert also referring to his wife as mang.

Clearly this has been discussed in that house. My guess is she’s been wanting him to retire for a while.

Unlike many here. I don’t hate AP. I am disappointed in the lack of production from him over his contract, but I don’t hate the guy at all.

I like how his wife used a picture of Albert in a Cards uniform. I'm sure after this season everyone, Angels fans included, would like to scrub any reminder of his years in Anaheim

I have two fond memories of Pujols. 
1. Firing arrows with Trout
2. Mugging on Puig

I'd love to see him sign a one year extension with the Angels just for the reactions on AW.

Unfortunately his OBP for his Angels career (.312), makes GA look like Kevin Youkilis.  The last 6 years his OBP is .301.
As a Cardinal his OBP was .420.

That was my thought. With his recent production - or lack thereof - he doesn't even have value as a DH, which would be his only realistic option for even a one year deal after 2021. If nothing else, he has served as an object lesson for why you pay a player for what he likely has left rather than for what he has already done.
He will sign a one day contract and retire as a Cardinal.

I don't think he will find a taker next season, even on a minimum contract. His best bet will be signing a one day contract with STL.

As if he has a choice.

The biggest news for me was from OC Register's @Jeff Fletcher report from Joe Maddon on Shoehi Ohtani. 
“He was showing velocity numbers, and it’s hard to show 95-plus in a workout,” the Angels manager said Tuesday, the day before the Angels first official workout of the spring in Tempe, Ariz. “He looked magnificent. The way the arm was working. The (velocity) numbers were high. Normally you get a workout or a (bullpen session), a guy is working on things, and you get a nice number, but you’re not going to get a big number. These numbers are big.”
