I can observe his lineup cards: These are indisputably superior to Scioscia's. E.g. Scioscia benched players at absurd times (right after a big game). Ausmus rewards them by moving them up in the lineup. Scioscia always put Pujols in at 3-4. Ausmus only did so when Pujols earned it.

What? There’s been numerous times throughout the season where a player had a good game and Ausmus benched them right after. The only difference in lineups is Ausmus’s willingness to move people up and down occasionally.

So we've established he's an addict? Interesting.

Nobody takes oxy because they thought it would be a fun trip. I got my gallbladder taken out recently and was prescribed oxy. It worked really good to take the pain away and help me pass out for half a day. I imagine that oxy is one of the painkillers that get prescribed after injuries, and if you continue to take it after your prescription is expired either you’re still inured/feeling pain, or you’re addicted.

I don’t understand the animosity. He didn’t go snort a few lines while driving his yacht into a pile of rocks. There is a difference. I’m also not saying that Jose Fernandez was a piece of shit either, but there is a difference between the two.

but their time with the Angels isn't consistent between when they started and when they got injured.  Neither is their workload.  Neither is the management of who directed their workload.  Neither is the level they were at or the coaches they were subject to.

I'm not here to make excuses, but the root cause doesn't seem overly apparent to me and one pitcher could have be overworked but that doesn't me the entire system is broken.  It's the correlation causation argument.

Then is it just a player being frustrated or is the player’s perception that they’re being mishandled? Is he the only one that feels that way?

  4. Well to answer one of your questions, they got the bulk of their usage under Sosh, but it’s difficult to see any trend. Perceval had a major arm injury that ended his career shortly after signing with Detroit, but other than that it’s difficult to find any major arm injuries until the DiPoto realm

@Jeff Fletcher has pointed out before, and its a solid as hell point, that the angels painted themselves in a corner by not developing their own pitchers. With no money and nothing to trade, the guys we were actually able to acquire were in most cases already question marks.

Richards. Need TJ, tried to avoid it, then needed it. Ohtani, signed with an already torn UCL. Meyer. Shoulder damage. Canning had concerns when drafted. Etc etc.

So I have no idea if the Angels are or arent abusing their pitchers. But it cant be ignored that at least with a decent chunk of these guys, there were already some concerns when we got them.

    Skaggs

    Heaney

    Richards

    Middleton

    Ramirez

None of them had any prior history. Is it just bad luck?

  6. Not liking a player and “laughing if they died” are two very different things. I’m ok with not liking him. He screwed over the Angels with his poor decision, but that’s exactly what addicts do. I can’t tell you how many times my own brother has done something to screw with the family when he relapses. Then he goes to prison/rehab and is good for a little while again. Deep down he’s a good person and we see that when he’s healthy and off drugs. I don’t like Josh Hamilton, but I’m not going to sit here and wish any ill will on the man
