Hubs6:27Chances Angels make playoffs?Anthony Franco6:28I feel better about it this year than I have in any of the last five, since they finally added some position player talent around their stars. Among a group of five or six teams in the AL that seem like they'll be in a cluttered wild card mix

Some knucklehead thinks so. Embarrassing!

@Pancake Bear obviously it's up to Shohei Ohtani in the end but everything I've heard from a few Angels personnel is he's their top priority to retain and to make a lifetime Angel. I've also heard from the same people that they believe Ohtani loves his teammates and wants to stay with one team and feels the Angels have made tremendous improvements the last couple offseasons to put them in a position to win. He is loyal and hates drama and stress so I'm guessing a deal gets done before the start of the regular season.
Time will tell. I just hope he stays true to that and doesn't get influenced by outsiders to play the field in free agency in hopes of setting a record breaking never to be broken professional sports deal. If he's honest with the Angels and wants to go that route, I truly hope they trade him for the best package of young ready to play NOW players before the start of the season, or at least by the trade deadline.
He is going to get 215 million a year? A 675 million dollar contract?

not true at all. I disagree with Jeff all the time and let him know. He made an overly general statement and admitted that he shouldn't have spoken in absolutes. Even if he was wrong, who cares. You've brought it back several times now. Do you want a pat on the back for being right?
A cookie would be nice.

give it a rest. no one cares but you.
You are only defending because of the poster that made the statement which has proven to be false. Pretty much any other poster here would be getting blasted for posting something like that. Every non salary dump trade that continues to happen is just more and more proof that regular offseason trades are alive and well.

There is a difference between asking price. And what Moreno would actually get.
If a car is worth $15,000. But has $12,000 of loans on it. You are asking $15,000, but only getting $3,000.
With all the crap the Angels are going through, the selling price of the Angels may be between $2.2 billion to $3 billion. But no way would the buyer pay for long term liabilities, which would decrease the amount Arte would get.
What are these liabilities you speak of? Arte is an awesome owner. Stop with all these lies! Facts have no business in this thread!!!

Go away dude, no one likes you.

The Angels had five potential bidders, with preliminary offers expected in mid-February, according to sources familiar with the negotiations who were not authorized to speak publicly. The team was expected to sell for well north of $2.5 billion, possibly even more than $3 billion.
But then, in the past few days, Moreno unexpectedly changed his mind. The Angels announced Monday that Moreno, 76, will no longer explore a sale of the team, after stating definitively in August that he was looking to sell. He pledged Monday to remain the owner for 2023 and beyond, despite the fact his children do not appear interested in inheriting the operations of the franchise.

A slew of potential high-profile buyers, including at least one from Asia and two who are current NBA owners, are left to wonder what just happened, sources said.

Still a crapshoot. Those Angels teams were bad ass. It's not Arte's fault they didn't deliver on the field.
He put a winning club together.
Those teams STILL won though and he has been TERRIBLE since 2009. Bad FA signing after bad FA signing. We don't have to go down that road again. He clearly lost whatever magic he had 2004-2009. 2010 on, he's just flat out been an owner that doesn't hire the right people and doesn't know how to get to the playoffs or win a WS. I can't believe people can't see the facts right in front of them.

Everyone of those playoff teams during his tenure could have advanced to the World Series.
It's a crapshoot. Look how well the Dodgers were built last year. Missed it. Same goes for the Braves, Yankees.
All of those teams have won a World Series while Moreno has been the owner of the Angels.

I look at the longview buddy.
He was one of the most beloved owners and quite successful during his first decade as owner of the Angels.
During Arte's 8-year slump in missing out on the playoffs he signed Trout to two extensions, the last one for life. Signed the World Series MVP Anthony Rendon. Earned the trust of Shohei Ohtani to sign with the Angels. He just pushed the payroll up to a franchise record this offseason.
If he signs Ohtani to an extension and the Angels are competitive this season and make the playoffs, will you give Arte credit where it's due @Taylor?
I think it mostly has to do with zero World Series wins or even appearances.

The news obviously sucks, but I feel numb to it and am not surprised.
I don’t think anyone should be defending Arte. He’s done countless bad things that significantly outweigh any good things he’s done.

Angels fan8:24I don’t like our relievers, who can we add to make our bullpen better?Mark P8:24Andrew Chafin is the obvious answer, as the best unsigned reliever on the marketBob Vance8:46Recently both Trout and Perry have said the Angels aren’t done yet this off-season. Do you see one more starter?Mark P8:47Famous last words, but it seems like the Halos have enough SP depth already. That is, if they stick to a five-man rotation and don't again decide to adopt a six-man staff.Ohtani9:39Tell me something positive about our pitching besides meMark P9:40I like the Angels rotation quite a bit, actually. If Tyler Anderson can continue his good form, they could be sneaky-excellentOhtani9:58100% new owner will not let me leaveMark P9:59If a new owner convinces Ohtani that the organization is on the right track, and obviously pays up with a record-setting extension offer, Ohtani will remain in Anaheim. But, it's just speculation on my part, since Ohtani hasn't given any hint about his feelings other than being frustrated over losing (which is natural for any player)

The Red Sox are trading right-handed reliever Matt Barnes to the Marlins, reports Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Lefty reliever Richard Bleier is headed to Boston in return, according to Craig Mish of SportsGrid. Miami will also get cash considerations on top of this one-for-one swap, per Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald.
