The difference being that we dont intentionally target civilians...anyone who thinks otherwise i ask a simple question. Why send the marines and the army into harms way when the B-52s could do it all for less cost to us in casualties and economics?
Because we try and avoid hurting the wrong people, whether anyone believes that or not.
We could have made names like falluja and ramadi notes in history with bomber crews back home in louisiana after they dropped their load. But we sent rifleman to clear out the people behind what you see in Paris today, and all over the middle east for decades. Contrary to popular belief, the middle east wouldnt suddenly find piece if we left and took israel with us...the shiites, kurds, christians and jews are just as much a target to these people as we are.
Hell, al qaeda is a target for these guys....

maybe. I cant say too much, but there sre a few local mosques here in OC that the feds have been watching for years, and have been sending money "to the cause" forever...just recently in fact they stipped 2 guys at LAX heading over who are both OC localsAnd the cartels have landed too...not just in texas, Az and San Diego...theyre among us now too. Theyre already leaving their "silver or lead" warnings to law enforcement...

to be fair, its like al qaeda. The core group might be in hiding, but any zealot can do something crazy "in the name of".Al qaeda was more of a conglomerate than one organization. ISIS is mainly in syria/iraq, but radicalized people rushing to their cause are global.
Dearh toll at 150 and rising...and looks like it was only 3 people or so involved so far...crazy
I always assumed wed see that here. Low level (as in gunman, not hijacked airplanes) attacks at malls. You see how easy it is to shoot up schools here and wonder why no local radicals have done the same here

Obama told George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America today that we've contained ISIS.

I think he'd like to walk that statement back.

Everyone's big fear is soft target places like concert venues and sports arenas. You can increase security to a degree, but imagine being at Staples Center or The Big A for a game and someone goes off. Or the Colisseum or Rose Bowl . . .

And to get back to what i me tioned earlier, the mexico situation is the seeds of what will become very violent and very bad for the southwest US in coming decades.
People say militarizing the border with Mexico is racist. Ask the Mexicans what their southern border is like...

True...the problem is when you ignore the shithole area, you end up with uninterrupted training grounds who will export its ideas. IE afghanistan after the soviets left. Yemen, etc
We created ISIS. Not intended, but as a byproduct. But the seeds of radical islam existed far before any of our retarded foreign policy blunders became scapegoat.
Put it like this, radical islam is a problem all over north africa and the southwest pacific as well...places we have very little to do with. The truly radical wont give up their dream for a caliphate

Marks point is valid. Anyone old enough to remember Oklahoma city remembers how sure we were it was a muslim (and this was pre 9/11, though post first WTC attack)
But lets be honest, this is the calling card of islamacists. Its the same way as a cop i recognize who robs banks with notes vs guns, who robs liquor stores alone vs pairs, etc
The scary part is this problem will only grow. Scarier how many of our own people (born in the US) and native Europeans have jumped into this movement.
Anyone remember the big movement in france about 10 years ago, and how accomodating the french govt was towards it? Chickens coming home to roost...

Not pointing a finger, but anyone familiar with how france treated this situation over the last 15 years or so (until recently) can see how this has happened.
Germany too. The germans are still very careful to not look like they are going after certain religions...hence why the hamburg cell was able to organize almost out on the open...

I guess this is why many Uber drivers won't pick up drunks.  Although having the dashcam again benefits the web tremendously.

You can clearly see the driver is at risk because there is no protective barrier between himself and the intoxicated passenger. Uber is not going to take responsibility because after all the car checked out ok, the driver checked out ok so if a passenger goes nuts and injures the driver it is just the risk the driver takes, right?

No regulations means no safeguards and peoples lives are at risk but you can make a couple bucks driving for Uber, a deregulated taxi.

Since my screen name comes from one of his movies I guess that says something. I like the westerns more than the Dirty Harry movies but the cool character with the squint and the low volume voice works great for those characters. My favorites would be either Unforgiven or The Good, The Bad and the Ugly although I think Eli Wallach is what really made that movie for me.

So, I gotta tell you all this story!  (and the follow-up).

Last Weds morning, I was sitting at home on the couch watching tv before work.  My sofa backs-up to our front window, so I am usually in-tune with the comings-and-goings of my neighborhood...

It's about 11 am and I see this silver Honda cruised past my house very slowly.  A couple minutes later, it drove past again and I could see that there were two people in it.  They were going slowly enough, that I paid attention.  About a minute later, the UPS guy pulled-up in front of the house and dropped-off a package to me.

Thinking about the car, I jumped-up and went out to grab it.  The UPS guy got in the truck, started it up, turned it off, and got out.  He was looking behind the truck, when I asked him what was going on.  We saw the silver Honda pull-up and park a few houses down.  Two young male, Blacks got out of the car and split-up.  One went and knocked on the door of the house they parked in front of, and the other went further down the street and out of sight.

I asked the UPS guy what was going-on, and he said, "Those guys have been following me for a while."  I told him to hang-on, and went in to get my phone to call-in the suspicious activity.

A few minutes later, they were both in-custody.  They were "door-knock" burglars, and had several of the packages the UPS guy had dropped-off in the car.  They were on one of our wanted-posters from previous burglaries, where they were caught on camera wandering the streets where burglaries had just occurred.  Search warrants later recovered more stolen items, including two handguns.

I thought that was pretty cool, but then it happened again!  This time, it was an off-duty Cop driving his kid home from school.  He saw two youngsters walking out of a backyard with backpacks full of items (including a laptop sticking out of one).

We stopped them, and the off-duty pointed-out the house they had just burgled.  We recovered over $6,000 in stolen items, including a 9mm pistol that was luckily still in the lockbox.

These are the capers that make it a great job.

Oh yeah; no Black lives were snuffed-out in the making of these arrests.

    Wow...
I wouldn't be able to standby and watch those gangster-thugs frog-stomp anybody like that.  It's pure gangster-pussy mentality.  If I saw Angels fans doing that to an A's or Dodgers fan in our parking lot, I'd be jumping-in to help the person on the ground getting kicked by a bunch of bitches.

AO-  I have a similar story...  Back in the late 80's we used to go to Fenders in LB for punk shows all the time!  It was a great time, and led us to starting our own bands!  Anyway, at one of the shows a bunch of hispanic thug gangsters were there.  They decided to "flex" their little weasel muscles by ganging-up on random people during the show.  Two of em would sucker-punch a guy from behind, knock em to the ground, and start kicking him.  The second time I saw this occur, I told my buddy I was goin-in.  I ran as fast as I could at the punks, and through two or three of em as I launched over the guy on the ground.  I got up on the other side, ready to get ambushed by the featherweights, and was surprised to see the rest of the crowd coming closer to help-out.  The thug-ettes left.

To me, I get sicker to my stomach NOT doing anything over watching it happen.

    I booked a roundtrip to Orlando @ $191

Nine days later it was down to $160. I called them up, and they gave me a $31 credit per seat.

$124 to use for my next trip. Who still does that?
