If you had someone threatening your income, you'd lawyer up too - even if you were in the wrong. He has every right to seek legal counsel and him doing so, says nothing about his desire to resume baseball activities.

Well it looks like Reynolds is wrong. Guthrie was interviewed after the game. He said Ventura first made a comment to himself when he was startled by the come-backer. Eaton thought the comment was directed at him (Guthrie believes it wasn't) so he responded. That's when Ventura responded back with "F You" and that's when shat hit the fan. This all comes back to the reputation Ventura has made for himself. He dogged Trout for hitting a come-backer then got into Trout's face later. So after Eaton hit one to Ventura, he thought the first comment was made toward him.

So, Ventura is now the boy who cried wolf? Dude escalates every situation
He deserves all the crap he's getting.
Based on Ventura's comments after the game, I think his teammates are in his ear.

Dave, great concept. However you missed step 10, which is critical, much more so than step 12
The most important thing with the 12 step program is anonymity and the fact that the programs are such to not publicly discuss your program, especially at the level of press, radio and film. The basis of these programs are attraction and specifically not promotion.
He's not going to sit and fall on the sword over and over again because he relapsed. He will take an approach that puts him in the best spiritual fitness to succeed.
He will probably try to emulate A Robert Downey Jr approach to sobriety and success - quietly.
One who was very heavily criticized, by some, for broadcasting her program was Elizabeth Vargas, former ABC Newswoman.
He doesn't owe the fans anything, and he certainly won't be discussing his program or spiritual fitness publicly.

I would not make any stipulation regarding his income and how he chooses to keep or donate it. It is completely unethical to demand he relinquish 1/2 of his salary to charity just to appease public sentiment.

Next, he doesn't need to apologize to anyone, he has made a lifetime worth of apologies in the last ten years and that well is dry. Words will fall on deaf ears simply because they are not backed up by past performance. Enough of the words, just do what is right from here on out and that is the sincerest of apologies.

Last, he is not to make policy for his actions, it is another demand that he get on his knees a grovel. If the Players Union and MLB want to get together and revise policy that is their domain. Hamilton does not need to draw attention back to himself and take his attention away from his primary responsibility and that is to finish out his contract.

Dave, your recommendations sound more like breaking Hamilton more than breaking an impasse. He doesn't need to take 12 steps from someone else's program. He needs to take one step on his own without everyone telling him how to do it.

This has to have been approved by Manfred. That means the Commissioner is working towards his re-instatement and eventually removing the ban altogether. I am not sure this is the right way to proceed, re-instating Rose while ignoring Joe Jackson that was banned for the same issue, purportedly betting on and fixing outcomes of games.

    This is ridiculous.
    1. If an All-Star catcher like Mesoraco hadn't played in x days, I am pretty sure that any opposing manager would notice this and they would have been looking for him in BP and the dugout. So it's not really a secret that he's not there.
    2. It's a natural question for fans why a guy who is on the roster doesn't pinch hit. A reporters job is to answer fans questions.
    3. As for the guys flying in and the other catcher having to see that before he learned he was sent down, tough. These guys are grown ups. Players learn stuff like that through the media all the time. Obviously they decided hours or a day earlier they were sending down the other guy, so the Reds had plenty of opportunity to tell him.

I know I am the super positive guy on here and I also know I bitch about other people's opinions a lot, but really, with how this team is performing individually, does it really matter where we bat Albert or Joyce? Albert is still our best option to bat third because Trout should bat 2nd. If you want to put the .220 hitter in the four hole instead of the .200 hitter go ahead, but it really isn't going to make a difference until the individuals on the team start to do their jobs.

At this point I would like to see Josh come back and play for the Halos again.  Maybe with a chip on his shoulder.

I'm a little more inclined to at least let him try to mentally work this out.  Granted, I am not a big fan of his process so far, but I can't pretend to know what he's going through and how he would work through a situation like this.  If it takes disappearing for a couple of months so he can get himself together, then I can live with that.

There is nothing to lose at this point.  They owe him 80+ mil.  His teammates appear to like him or perhaps support him.  At the very least they seem to feel sorry for him.  He was an above average LFer last year and we could actually use that right now as the guys taking his at bats are sucking donkey nuts on both side of the ball.

He seems the type to take his problems to the field so perhaps this has been a lingering issue for him for awhile.  Certainly, his issues are far from resolved, but maybe for him there is at least some clarity.  Maybe not for the team as of yet but I say let the guy deal on his ranch.  Let his shoulder heal, Let him go to the IE and get some at bats.  Let him go to SLC and get a few more and just see what happens.  They are gonna owe him almost every last dollar on his contract anyway.  Might as well try to get something out of him.

The show was amazing how it made it to 1970 and stayed in that decade for fourty years. Not a bad run for a Jewish kid that first wanted to be a tailor in Nueva York.
