DerekGMZ reacted to Adam in Friends of Percy Squint
I got Mike an interview with my company a few years ago. We were looking for an Accounts Receivable guy. He told me his experience was in Accounts Payable. WTF do I know about it? I tell him "whatever dude... accounting. Come in for an interview." Our Finance guy and CEO still talk about how awesome Mike was in the interview. "I don't know shit about Accounts Receivable. I told Adam I was an A/P guy."

DerekGMZ reacted to ABC in "As a pitcher, I'd be pretty upset," Trout said.
This idea that a pitcher should just grin and bear it if a batter hits a mammoth home run and celebrates by flipping his bat?
Mike Trout isn't having any part of it.
"As a pitcher, I'd be pretty upset," Trout said.
And would Trout say that such a demonstrative batter would be showing up the pitcher?
"It definitely would be," the 24-year-old said.
That puts the two best players in baseball at opposite ends of the decorum spectrum.Bryce Harper, 23, recently told ESPN that the sport was "tired" because young players were discouraged from expressing themselves with "flair."
"If a guy pumps his fist at me on the mound, I'm going to go, 'Yeah, you got me. Good for you. Hopefully I get you next time.' That's what makes the game fun.""Jose Fernandez will strike you out and stare you down into the dugout and pump his fist," Harper said. "And if you hit a homer and pimp it? He doesn't care. Because you got him. That's part of the game. It's not the old feeling. …
Harper said the sport would be more popular if players could show exuberance.
"I just keep it the same," Trout said. "I don't try to show anybody up. Whatever somebody else does, that's what they do."
Trout said there is no chance he would flip his bat after a home run, even if he might try it during batting practice every now and then.
"We mess around in the cage and stuff," he said. "During the game, I just hit the ball and go.
"I go out there and try to respect the game. I go out there and play. My parents always taught me to be humble."

DerekGMZ reacted to Blarg in Orange County Register: Angels selling 'Stop Trout' T-shirts at spring training stadium
Most Trout fans were not born when Prefontaine ran. Nike missed their audience by 40 years.

That is pretty stupid. I mean it won't keep me up at night, but it's pretty silly.

Meanwhile, Danny Nava looked great today. I only saw him walking back to the clubhouse but still, his hips looked loose!

DerekGMZ reacted to eligrba in Gordon to KC
I think the plan for the Angels is to first draft a top of the rotation type pitcher this year, wait two years, and then trade said pitcher for Gordon.

DerekGMZ reacted to ScottT in Angels, Nationals in mix for Gerardo Parra
I'd rather have Cespedes.
Too bad Arte is having economic troubles.

DerekGMZ reacted to totdprods in Angels, Nationals in mix for Gerardo Parra
As I said in the Hot Stove thread, I think Parra would be a fine add and compares well with Fowler.
Neither player is a significant impact individually, but either profile well to the club's needs; top of the order bat, can hit left-handed, and bring at least decent speed and defense. Parra won't cost a pick either.

Mathis has also made more money in his career playing than Koufax, haha, life is a sonofabitch.
