I don't think signing a young manager to a three year deal is going to make any potential buyer or player think -- OMG!!! Look at that stability!! -- not after churning through three managers in four years.  If anything I'd read it as - "oh man, they are just throwing shit at the wall."

Why would they want to come here when in a year, a new owner might go in a different direction vs going to a team they know they will believe in them long term?

I just think that's completely unrealistic, given the situation.  There's no reason for Moreno to give a young manager a three-year deal when he's dumping the team--and there's no reason for a young manager to take the opportunity.

I'm genuinely surprised that anyone thought that this WOULDN'T be what happened.  It makes zero sense from either the Angels' side or a potential new manager's perspective to bring in someone new until the ownership situation is resolved.

Same. Any improvement with the team next year will have to come from within with young players taking another leap + health/production from Trout/Ohtani/Rendon.

Guess what.  Nevin and Minasian get a full year without any Maddon influence to prove they can:

A - Win
B - Deserve to stick around for whoever ends up buying the team 
C - Show Ohtani there is a reason to stick around because right now there isn't any.  Maybe  I'm the one thats clueless but I don't believe any "name brand" manager signed to a three year deal was going to make him think otherwise.. 
Pretending the team isn't up for sale and that there is potential for wide spread upheaval is silly.

It doesn't matter how long Nevin is signed for, there'd be instability regarding the manager regardless.  We have no clue who our new ownership will want to manage the team.

Too soon to tell with Nevin, but as of now I'd take him over Maddon and Ausmus in a heartbeat.

Typical year we have experienced since 2010, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. 
they show flashes of good play but just don’t have the depth to do it over long periods of play. That, coupled with the best players not ever staying on the field for a full season, well you know the rest.

Loop and Tepera are finished products and have no motivation to perform. It's everyone else we should be considering, and he's done very good with that group.

Matt Wise’s stock is rising. Starter performance is good and improving. I’d like to see more improvement among the relievers though. A good indicator is how pitchers perform compared to their last team (and how they do after they leave). Loop/Tepera are not a good look. How great would it be if the relievers close out the season real strong in September and give us a thread of hope (like we had going into this year).

Thaiss could have a spot-on Angel's in 2023. After this weekend in Canada hope they do not send him down.

OK dump him after this weekend and keep Thaiss. Put Thaiss at 1B and catch a week. Maybe Thaiss be 1B in 2023 as I agree Ford will not be in halo plans in 2023.
