First, how do you know what questions are being asked?
When things are going badly, I ask all the time why it’s happening and what they are trying to do about it. What else am I supposed to ask that would be considered a “tough question”?
What is the cube root of 27 multiplied by 3?

Well, as bad as the Angels' offense has been, they're still averaging half a run game more than the Tigers!
Thanks Perry!

I'm honestly not sure how the Tigers have won 51 games so far this season. They are embarrassingly awful.
Sometimes I wonder how the Angels managed to win 58 games with their offense.

Once again, I am just going off of what my perception of these things are, but I would think a bullpen session would be a step towards seeing where a player is physically, before setting them up for a minor league rehab, a simulated game or to be activated for the major league level. You could also see a bullpen session being where the pitcher would throw some but not all of his pitches, where a simulated game I would assume is where they bring their full arsenal at some level.
@Jeff Fletcher messed up my understanding of rehab pitching assignments. I guess I need to calibrate again.

I think it’s a controlled environment to see where a pitcher is at physically, where the actual decision makers at the major league level can keep a watchful eye. So I’m under the impression it’s to see where a pitcher is physically.
What about a bullpen session?
All of these terms are thrown around but without any context, it's hard to know the purpose for each.

Unless you saw the game, you don’t know they hit him “hard.” At AAA the ballparks are often bandboxes and/or at high altitude. And at lower levels the defense is pretty crappy. Not all “hits” are created equal.
Also, in a rehab outing the pitcher is not really attacking hitters the way he would in the majors. Aside from the fact that the pitcher might just be trying different pitches to get the feel right, he doesn’t even have the scouting reports he would in the majors. The defense also isn’t positioned the way it is in the majors.
They’re pretty much going off the trackman data and how the pitcher feels. They don’t care about what the box score says.
Can you clarify the purpose of a simulated game?

I have never understood why a pitcher is ready for major league hitters when minor league hitters hit them hard on a rehab start.

Adell needs either another year in AAA or to be DFA.
We need a much better roster next year. No more scrubs. Figure out how to play baseball somewhere else!
What year is your post referring to?

Adell isn’t helping his cause….at some point, he has to show something….you can give him a lot of rope but he has to produce….
But he is so young and athletic.

How will the Angels replace his production?

I've seen Aguilar make a couple of good catches and botch one other. In his limited appearances thus far, both Fangraphs and B-Ref have him below replacement value and negative in defensive value. You are clearly seeing something very different from what I've seen and from what the stats show.
I haven't seen much. He seems more comfortable defensively than Adell and better at bats. My eye test for better at bats do not necessarily equate to more hits. His ability to hit a sac fly when needed is something Adell has not yet shown.

Ryan Aguilar is not a threat to Jo Adell's future.
The only threat to Jo Adell's future is Jo Adell.
If the Angels have an outfield prospect in the lower levels who appears to be developing, you don't think that prospect would leap frog over Adell in getting major league opportunities? I'm not sure how patient the Angels will be waiting for Adell.

What skills have you seen in Aguilar's limited appearances that make you think he's a better fit long term?
His defense and better at bats. I'm not arguing he is Adell's replacement but it shows that Adell is not ready for the major league level, yet. Aguilar could be a league average replacement player, which would actually be an upgrade for the Angels. This could be the best Aguilar will ever be which is better than the current version of Adell.

Yeah, soon-to-be-28-year-old guys who strike out 11 times in their first 17 ABs definitely want to make you give up on 23-year-old former top 10 prospects. I totally get that. Smart thinking.
Your right. It's much better to have a 23 yr old who can't play at this level but has potential in the lineup than, heaven forbid, a 28 yr old who has more skills.
I stand corrected. Thanks for setting me straight. Wow, you are really smart.

After watching Aguilar for a few games, Adell's window with the Angels might be closing.

Please Baseball Gods, do not give Minasian the idea that Ford is the answer for first base.

I love the audacity of someone who believes they would hit over .200 and they still call others out for opinions.
Baseball is just friggin hard. The worst major league player is still better than 99% of the baseball fan population. It is mind blowing how good these guys are that we (me included) identify as bad players.
