He won't have to do it, when Trout and Ohtani asked to be traded to New York for him it will be a done deal. Then Minasian will have that smug little look on his face thinking it was a smart move.

This infield is a mess, thanks Perry!

This is really disappointing, I really like this guy and he can be a difference maker. We should have signed a stronger shortstop in the off season when many were available, and then we would have had a cushion. Season ending injuries happen every year to virtually every team. The Angels aren't there yet in having effective team depth.

Why do the GDTs of wins have less pages than the losses?
That's a really good question. When they lose, fans think they always have answers to adversity, and when they win there is nothing for them to add?

Nobody even cares that Ohtani pitched a great game.
That was because everyone was petrified something creepy would happen and they would end up blowing another one. Even after the game ended the shock was still there.

@tomsred Birthday?
Yes, that was the last time they won an away game. If they had lost on my birthday (June 9th), I might have sent them out some horse heads to sleep with. Especially so since I wore my dorky monkey socks all damn day long.

It's a mystery how a team can start so well, and then so quickly fall out of contention. Something is way off track here, and it's going to be painful to watch it play out. Part of it is that the deeper they dig their hole, the more pressure develops until you bury yourself.

Maybe Joe Maddon should replace Perry Minasian.

Story is hitting .218
Yes, he started out horrendous. But in the last 30 days he has 8 HR's, 28 RBI's and his OPS is .846 (batting average .239). That would have looked pretty nice during the Angel's last 30 days. He also has speed, and is a good fielder, plays 2B or shortstop.

These idiots thought Maddon was the problem

More like the GM is the problem who made an emotional and silly decision.

Should have signed Trevor Story.

i listened to the "hooked on angels" podcasts last week, and they hammered on ohtani for this very thing. they think he always looks like he's trying to drive one into the clouds on each swing.
...and he's usually looking kind off balance, and backing away from the ball. That said, the past nine games have been better, mostly because he he's remained on balance, and emphasizing controlled contact.

There were a lot of free agent shortstops available after last year's season, and the Angels didn't really move aggressively on any of them.

Why does every team do badly at this ?
I think it's because bullpen arms only throw 60-75 innings in a year at most. It's extremely hard to predict how consistent and effective any pitcher can be with so small of a sample size, and for that matter how healthy they can remain.

How about your car keys, still have those? Most men go numb when someone reaches in their front pockets.

Quite frankly I think the Angels are on track for this year!

Adel will return soon enough. I can't see us going the rest of the year with Lagares. He will regress to the weak hitting outfielder, with little power, that he has been. Adel just needs to focus on improvement at whatever environment he is in, he's only 23 with a bright future.

Why would Espada come to the Angels if he is in line to take over the Astros?
I think Perry will pull from someone he knows.
Correct, and that's what I am afraid of. I can't wait for Perry's next emotional decision.

Sounds like they are making room for some other pitchers. Maybe Kalish, Valdez or Daniel. Yeah, I'm thinking Ward may be ready too. Adel was doing okay, his defense looked better, and he was getting on base. (Update: Probably not Valdez, he pitched seven shutout innings tonight for the Bees, and they won 3-0.)

I think we need to dip into the Rocket City Trash Pandas for help after we fire the entire infield left of first base, and get rid of every reliever who can't throw the ball faster than 94 mph.
