Eric got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in Jerome Williams plays catch with a fan
It's simple things like that that ballplayers can do each day to make fans for life. Not only will Jerome suddenly become that kid's favorite baseball player, that kid, when he grows up will get his children into the game as well, all because one ballplayer took 3 minutes out of his day. Unfortunately, though, the kid is going to know the pain that comes with being a fan of the Astro's, but at least he'll be a baseball fan.

The best moment of this thread will be when Victor blurts it out on the air in the excitement of the moment as a shoutout to Angelswin.com. That's gonna be awesome!

Sorry, Bo Porter isn't the manager of the Angels tomsred. Scioscia actually pays attention to who he can bring up.

Eric got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in One of the worst covers ever
If you should know anything about me, I like me some bad. I remember Bert Parks, and judging from that rendition, I would still say that, multiple facelifts and all, Parks was one of the best deadpan humorists ever.
That said, if you like the bad renditions of songs, then look no further than Richard Cheese, someone best known for his "Christmas in Las Vegas" but who revels in the absolute demolition of contemporary songs. While I could lead you to an example or 30, the journey with him is worth the trip. Just head on over to YouTube, enter in "Richard Cheese", pop open your favorite adult beverage, sit back and enjoy the absolute mastery of the slaughter.
I will, however, start you off with one. Enjoy.
Warning, NSFW.

Eric got a reaction from jsnpritchett in Voting for TV broadcasters underway...
I can't even bring myself to not use a derogatory nickname to describe the color announcer for the Angels, so, in deference to the new rules here, I will refer to him as "he who shall not be named".
"He who shall not be named" is the weak link in the broadcast booth every game. Has he gotten better? Possibly, but I wouldn't know simply because no matter how much he has improved he remains one of the, if not the single worst, color announcers I've heard. One nice thing about being out here in Las Vegas is that we get to listen to announcers from all over the country, some good, some bad, and "He who shall not be named" is consistently bad by comparison. Easily the worst color announcer of the choices listed for the AL West.
Tim Salmon is still getting some experience under his belt, but already is much better than "He who shall not be named".
Victor Rojas, on the otherhand, is easily the best of the bunch on that list. Clear, concise, just enough homer to allow him to get excited for the Angels and disappointed and frustrated when things go the opposition's way, but objective enough to give credit to the other team when applicable and criticize the Angels when necessary.
The Angels could vastly improve their broadcast team standing by eliminating but a single individual from the booth.
My key to the post is "Out of Touch" by Daryl Hall and John Oates. Why? I don't know, but I'll make up some absolutely random, barely passable excuse as to why I'm referencing 30 year old songs thinking I'm hip in order to defend the fact that I haven't been able to relate to any music produced since. Heck even the Grateful Dead produced more contemporary music than what "He who shall not be named" references on a nightly basis.

Mark Langston has become very good on the radio side. Maybe he should be called up?

Eric got a reaction from GuliblGuy in 2 Weeks In..How Well Do You Think Replay is Working?
Hate it. How many times so far have we seen a manager head on out to have a "discussion" with the umps on a close play just to give his own guys a chance to review the tape to see if he wants to challenge the call?
It seems that any time there's a bang bang play where the runner is out, the next batter is taking their time to get up to the plate and when the runner is safe, suddenly the pitcher needs to collect themselves for a few extra seconds, all in order to give their guys in the booth a few extra seconds to figure out if they want to challenge the call.
It's slowing down the game unnecessarily in order to combat a few really bad Ump calls. Umps get it right much more often than not, even on the bang bang plays.

Eric got a reaction from Taylor in 60-42-60
For some, this formula makes perfect sense and needs no explanation.
For those that don't get it, no, it's not the latest dimensions of Miss April.
60 Wins, 60 losses, and 42 yet to be determined.
In baseball, every team has both 60 wins and 60 losses to start the season with. It's going to happen, it's inevitable. Sure, there may be the anomaly here and there throughout the years, but most of the time, every team has at least both of those in their W/L column come the end of the season.
These are the not so close games. These are the blow outs. The are the collapses. These are the dominations.
Each team fails throughout the season and each team succeeds throughout the season. It's what happens in the extra 42 games that is the difference between 1st place and last place, from the greatest team that season in baseball to the most dismal.
Today was just one of the 60, not one of the 42.

Looks like I will likely make it. Now my dilemma is, what to wear:
1. Angels logo t-shirt with Japanese script
2. AngelsWin.com Jose Mota quote t-shirt
Decisions, decisions...

Eric reacted to Homebrewer in New MLB Drug Policy
As it stands in MLB, most of the recent suspensions have been because guys were ratted out.
Testing hasn't caught many violations, even when players admit guilt.
All of the increased testing seems pretty hollow, that being the case.
