Nevin trying give Ward back his confidence?
Maybe it's a start, fingers crossed.

I guess you tip your hat to putting up two runs instead of a solo home run for Trout.
Yep, it worked.

I don't think this is an A+ substitution.
I understand the righty lefty match up most likely being the reason but its a close game and you took out your best left fielder..

Nice to have real first baseman
Walsh is a difference maker with the Glove.

Now that Walsh has played a few games in a row they have to let him continue mostly everyday for a while. Regardless of outcome. Getting back in form is a process and he needs continuity to adjust again. Kind of like at the start of spring training.
It's obvious that he's out of sync at the plate, but rotating him now won't let him progress as fast. However, the team comes first, so it could be dicey if he hurts them offensively after a few more weeks of non productivity. Then he may have to be platooned or accept a bench role. But at least his defense seems good so he contributes that way.
It's different coming back from neurological issues than conventional injuries, so it's hard to predict when Walsh will feel totally confident and comfortable.
Not sure how long it will be before his hitting comes around but no doubt about it defensively he’s already making a big difference.

Texas has been insane.
Sadly, yes they have.

Thanks Jeff.
Always appreciate the input.

My hope is the starting will turn around and live up to the expectations most of us had going into the season.
We do see flashes of it however those flashes need to become the consistent level of play.
That along with an improved pen will give this team it’s best shot to contend for a playoff spot. -

Problem is that in his role so far, he goes beyond even the normal starting pitcher’s rest period. It’s more important to improve the starting pitcher depth.
Silseth could well be what they desperately have needed in a 3rd late innings guy.
While I think both areas need help I think the pen is the biggest issue to this point of the season.
Silseth would have more opportunities in a given week to impact the games coming out of the pen.

Moniak is starting to make it impossible for him to be sent down again. As much as I love Ward, I think Moniak could be a useful platoon partner for him
At minimum Moniak needs to platoon LF with Ward (still irritated that he didn’t start Saturday night with twins starting a righty)!
He’s playing great right now, has a nice swing and a good all around game (not just a hitter).

What were the lawn-watering rules back then?
I was a kid then and don’t have any memories of what the water restrictions were.
I remember we had a bad drought in the later half of the 70’s, which was followed by some rainy years in the early 80’s, really that’s all I remember

MLB needs to prioritize lifting the outdated home market blackout restrictions and allow those of us who stream to watch game’s through the MLB app.
I’d happily pay for that.
It really is a contributing factor to the shrinking fan base of MLB.

Ward 1-16, OPS down to .636, and the power just isn’t there (8 XBHs).
In fact, he’s also not even being patient this month (only 2 BBs).
How long does he get before they platoon him with Moniak, who’s also the last night.
Platooning should have started last night.
It’s idiotic that Moniak wasn’t in the lineup last night with a righty on the mound.

Maybe here is where they get back in the game.

seriously... the kid seems like he's been playing in the bigs for 5 years instead of 5 weeks. Not just on the field, but in his postgame interview too. I'm so impressed with how MLB-ready he seems, and I felt the same way about O'Hoppe before he got hurt. It's such a change from watching Jo Adell struggle to adjust to the MLB level for years
Yep agree, while this season has been somewhat of a disappointment (to this point), there is still time to get on a roll and make the playoffs like Philadelphia did last season.
With that said, I have to say the biggest highlight so far this season, has been the two rookies Neto and O’Hoppe. The future looks bright for two important positions moving forward…..
And it’s not just their talent and ability. It’s their character that’s also been impressive.
