Great article on O’Hoppe, loved hearing about it.
Thanks for giving us the behind the scenes story Jeff!

Admittedly Perry has done a great job building bullpen depth.
we could have easily let Loup, Tepera, and then the Moore injury sink our season but we seem to have a solid reliever to fill the role every time we have needed so far…
Devinski, Estevez, Joyce, Silseth, Webb, Bachman
And we have a couple more down in the minors doing very well.
pleasantly surprised
I like how Perry isn’t afraid to move on from a veteran and make a roster move to change things that aren’t working.
Also how he isn’t afraid to promote young talent.

Feels like Lee Smith. Dudes got on base, but if we were only up by 1, they didn’t score. But if we were ahead by 2, they’d score 1. If we were up by 3, they’d score 2. But in the end, we won, and he got the save.
Agree.
That’s actually a good.

Isn’t that exactly what’s happened?
It seems like everyone is at or well below expectations, and they’re 2 games over .500.
Great point Jeff, if most of the guys (playing below expectations) play to the level they normally have done in the past to go along with some surprising performances by players like Neto, Canning, Estévez, Thaiss and Urshela this team could get on a roll.

I know you're being sarcastic, but, therein lies the problem. Who will lead this meeting? Frankly, this is not up Trout's alley, he likes to lead by example (and, unfortunately, he's just not getting it done lately.) Shohei doesn't speak the language well enough (and is probably just marking time), Rendon is just too laid back, and everyone else is fairly new. Perhaps we could trade Trout for Bryce Harper just to get some fire in the clubhouse. When we had Lackey, Erstad, Percival, and Weaver the fire was built-in. Torii Hunter was also a leader, but Albert ruined that dynamic. On the brighter side, I see that fire in Neto and O'Hoppe.
Agree, future looks good with those two players (O’Hoppe and Neto).

This game is a snooze fest…
Now they have waived the white flag by rolling Loup out there.
if I wanted to be this aggravated I would have gone to work.

I 100% know how valuable Shohei Ohtani is but am I the only one that feels like we could replace the offense he provides? I know .850+ OPS hitters don’t grow on trees but damn that was an ugly AB
the pitching is a different conversation, obviously
The bat can be replaced however dominant aces are extremely hard to come by.

Alright, here’s our chance.

Paperboy for the Herald Examiner. Subscriptions $2.40 per month weekly only or $3.00 per month including Sunday's.
I had to go house to house at the end of every month to collect. The Route Manager charged me $30 per month for the papers, anything above that I kept.
Did this from age 10-13.
My first Sunday morning (6:00am) loaded with the big Sunday papers stuffed in each bag, I durned onto the side walk after "porching" the first house, and fell because I wasn't used to the weight of the bags. Fortunately my dad saw me fall and came over to help me get the bike off me.
Good times!
Loved the Herald Examiner, Great paper!

First Halos of the Red Sux in 8 years, including SEVEN HRs and two near misses
Fortunately, Estevez only threw a few bullpen pitches.
Back end ready for the weekend after a day off
7-3 record in past 10 games, all vs over .500 teams
It’s always great to beat Boston, hate that team.

You know in the Michael Keaton “Batman” and Jack Nicholson as the Joker asks in amazement, “Where does he get those wonderful toys???” I feel the same way but I say, “How Is Loup still on this team???”
Every time I see Loup come into the game, I immediately get aggravated.

Absolutely agree, John Lackey was a bull dog leader for sure.
