  1. Agree. Otherwise, why would he have pitched to only two batters yesterday and been relieved mid-inning? It appears they are getting him ready for short stints.
  2. If the Angels are serious about making the playoffs this year then Chris Rodriguez is on the squad. Otherwise, just another wasted "Mike Trout in his Prime" year. If they are super-serious, Pujols is not on the squad. We just can't afford how he hampers our lineup versatility.
  3. You might call Fletcher "second tier", but I'm waiting for his bobblehead to come out so I can replace Baby Jesus in my Nativity Set.
  4. And was the guy we traded to get Ed Figueroa a year later.
  5. Todays OC Register said that they are considering Rodriguez for the bullpen. I'd love to see it!
  6. Ohtani not being allowed to hit before or after pitching (just an excuse to get Pujols some PT) Hitters being allowed to call timeout so they can dig in Every Angel trade of the 1970's When the Angels get off to a crappy start and I can't stand to watch games by mid-May No longer keeping score by hand because I can just check on my phone
  7. When's Ohtani pitch again? The last I remember was last Saturday.
  8. Jimmie Reese hitting fungoes during pregame Ryan pitching a no-no (even for the Rangers) Getting into Anaheim stadium for free after the 7th inning Driving past the strawberry field on Harbor Blvd across from Disneyland on way to game Bill Rigney, Joe Torre doing color analysis for the Angels Dick Enberg and Don Wells Dick Enberg and Don Drysdale California Angels theme song
  9. If he were playing slo-pitch softball he would have to be the catcher.
  10. And with Chris Rodriguez in the wings....I'm more than a little pumped!
  11. Unfortunately, we don't have a two-year time machine to go back and get something for him in a trade.
  12. Unfortunately, I think Arte is just a man of his word, and he will honor Pujols as well as the final year of his contract. Otherwise, if he truly wanted to win now, he'd just release Albert to open up the roster spot. God, does anyone have ANY fond memories of Pujols over these last ten years (I did see him shot a fake bow and arrow at Rodney once)?
  13. In 1972 we had Wright, Messersmith, Ryan and Rudy May all in their primes and all with ERA's under 3, with 55 complete games total. Just an average staff back in those days (which is one reason we finished fifth).
  14. The Dodgers also had Charlie Hough on that staff, so Yeager got a lot of use from that mitt.
  15. Including starting both games of a doubleheader!
  16. Its just another example of how the Pujols signing has always made our roster awkward. We seem to always have to carry another full-time first baseman. We keep talking about getting Trout to the playoffs during his prime years. Keeping Albert on the roster just means we are not fully committed to that, and its been that way for a few years. I'm curious to see Rodriguez pitch today because being "fully committed" might also mean finding a spot for him.
  17. Here's a quote from Brandon Wood "And it happened a lot that year. You’re in the box and there’s a disconnect between your brain, your vision and your body. The nerves have put you in a fright instead of fight mode and your mechanics change. Your mentality changes. You can’t see the ball.” Unfortunately, this appears to be happening to Adell at the plate AND on the field.
  18. In order to start a second game he would need to defeat Benjie Molina in a match race. It would be fair since both men are 46 years old.
  19. You're just mean! I give him a ceremonial start on opening day, bat him leadoff but pinch hit Fletcher right away, then just call it good.
