Unless Moreno suddenly turns into Steve Cohen, we can’t sign Ohtani and win, bottom line.  One, Ohtani will never be worth what he’s going to get, and two, Arte has already proven he won’t back it up with more spending when that inevitably happens.

Unfortunately a rebuild in personnel and coaching staff is in order.

I do not think a rebuild is in order. Halos have good young players to build around. These young pitchers will improve as they get more experience. I truly believe if Trout, O'Hoppe and Neto been healthy all year Angels would be in playoffs this year.

i've got my own conspiracy theory.

arte put the team up for sale because he couldn't guarantee to manfred and the other owners that his criminal dirty laundry wasn't going to hit the street. while the team was negotiating deals with prospective buyers, arte was also working to keep his name clean potentially. once he was able to bury/destroy any evidence that could lead back to him criminally; he was able to convince the other owners and league legal department that he was in the clear, thus allowing him to remove the angels from the market. i call my conspiracy theory, "unfinished business"

Arte had me fooled. Thought it was about getting into playoffs.

I'm sure Nevin's impeccable record would land him a position immediately when the Angels decline to renew his contract. The Sugarland Skeeters are always looking for managers.

Why would Sugarland Skeeters want Nevin? You do know they are called Space Cowboys now?

  4. It's 50 50 if Nevin will be back. Either he will or he won't. Angels this year have an unusual number of injuries. Ursela the man to replace Rendon if he got hurt gets hurt and out for year. Halos have changed GM's and managers and things have not changed. Stick with these two for another year. Injuries to entire infield, two thirds of OF plus starting catcher. Resign Moose and Moore this off season.

I'd add bad management, bad bullpen construction, and not having a good game calling catcher. The entire pitching staff regressed, and has been terrible.

Angels despite their struggles with runners on and 2 outs still are 9th in the league in scoring runs. Could they be better, absolutely. The injuries definitely played a part. Most notably, Trout, Stassi, and O'Hoppe....Thaiss and Wallach have done ok, but the lack of good game calling is apparent.

It also can be execution of pitches called.

But you're doing exactly what I'm concerned about.  You're setting the bar for him at the level of Hall of Fame catcher based on a very small sample.  Are you going to be disappointed if he's Charles Johnson instead of Gary Carter? I think you're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

It will not be the first time for me. Rick Reichardt, Brandon Wood, Jackie Warner, Dallas McPherson the list goes on and on. Besides if O'Hoppe does not work out we have that 20 year old at AA right.

O'Hoppe looked great before he got hurt, but hes far from establishing himself. Neto has had a great year and hes definitely a building block. Moniak is a platoon outfielder, with maybe Joc Pederson upside, but thats not a difference maker. Adell is, who knows.

They have some pieces for sure but this is a long way off from having a legitimate winning core.

You have to start somewhere. Trout will be back along with Rendon. If Ohtani leaves opens up DH spot. People forget Ward also will be back. I do believe Sandoval, Detmers and Canning will improve with experience. For 2024 I try and resign Moore, Lopez, Moose and Ursela. Thaiss and O'Hoppe behind the plate. I just do not think it is all gloom and doom.

Silseth has his 4th straight solid start of at least 5 innings, 84 pitches.   Time to stretch him out to 95-100 pitches next start?

Great pen work for 4 innings, aside from Soriano’s wild pitch

Estevez finally has a dominant 9th for the first time in a while.

Silseth is young I like him at 85 pitches for now. Been long season no need to push him now. Silseth going into 2024 looks like good chance at being in rotation. Sandoval, Silseth, Detmers, Canning nice young starters going forward.
