  1. Spirited run - hahaha, the bar is really set low now isn’t it. There are a bunch of battered wives on here. Wake up people.
  2. 60 days ago, I was a big fan of Perry. fast forward to these ridiculous/horrible trades with no self awareness and the bad draft (imo) - and now I realize he’s another failure. Maybe he’s been infected by the Angels/Arte idk. im calling it now, Angels won’t make the playoffs until the 2030s decade.
  3. Loser organization. Laughingstock in MLB and worst than the A’s. You got to wonder if Arte realizes how much he’s mocked around the league and by fans (except for random delusional angel fans).
  4. If only they could make Another trade giving just prospects. They’d be in first right? No self awareness.
  5. Good/playoff teams find ways to win. The rest find ways to lose. You should know by now which side the Angels are on.
  6. Amen brother. Reality is that this organization has been on a road to nowhere and will continue to do so -- until there is change at the top. Assuming of course that ownership change is a good one. It could be worse. Right now we have the black hole.
  7. You went from a certainty (they would be in first) to now saying it would be a possibility. I wonder what's next. Listen, i love the passion and the support/positivity. But you seriously think O'Hoppe would have made the difference? If anything, he was likely playing a little over his head and a come down was soon when the book got out on him. Then you hope he could make the proper adjustments. Regardless, you keep talkign injuries. You do realize every team has injuries right? Texas has lost a bunch of their top guys are periods. IDK about Houston, but i'm guessing they have had injuries. That's why the angels are not anything more than an average team -- lack of depth for when inevitable injuries occur. The pitching staff has been pretty healthy for the year -- and they simply are not good enough....at least not good enough to win this division. Or live in a dream world -- you do you
  8. I've been reading Lou's posts across different team boards for a few decades now going back to the old scout days. Always a stand up guy. Prayers to you & your family. Wish you well however it all ends up....keep it up in the afterlife. cheers
  9. How were they doing before the injuries? Not leading the division. Don't tell me Gio/etc. now makes the Angels so much better -- because both Texas and Houston got WAY better at the TDL. Seriously, being a fan is great and supporting the team. But don't turn your head away from facts and reality -- they can prevent you from turning into a soccer mom.
  10. I'm not sure how anyone can keep pushing the company line here on the trades. Escobar, Gio, Leone, etc. It's so....freaking...bad. You can't make a huge trade for a rental and be 0-2. You can't. Especially when you already were chasing several teams from the outside looking in. Admit it was bad/stupid. I don't even blame Perry as much because i can't imagine him being that dumb. I'm 99.995 sure this was an Arte demand.
  11. Gio was a bad, stupid trade at the time.....and now 2 starts later, it's even more so. Thanks Arte!
  12. The Braves are a great team. Losing 2 of 3 in ATL is the way the world goes there right now. Having said that -- this LAA team is simply not a good team. It's a slightly below average team that at best can be a .500 team. Pretty much what they have been for the past 7-8 years since 2015. I don't think they have finished .500 for a season since like 2015. The numbers don't lie.
  13. As much as many Angels don't want to think about it, there's a fairly strong argument to be made that the best thing for the organization's success the next 6-10 years is for Ohtani to leave via FA. In the first 1-3 years, maybe less so. Although that $50-60M could be put to good use with a good GM. But after a few years, that contract could be a killer. He's simply not going to be able to sustain the elite SP / hitting production to support that salary year after year. Not to mention an injury, which is more likely as he gets older and continues to play both sides. But if you care more about the name brand of Ohtani being an Angel for life and all, then all of those issues do not matter. The most likely scenario that plays out with this outcomes is you have Trout+ 2.0 -- amazing top shelf HOF as an Angel for life.....without on-field / playoff success.
  14. Weird....weird. Not so much the cost -- but the return. Just weird. Can we trade him back for cash considerations (us paying them).
  15. i think i'd rather Arte spend that $50-60M/year on scouting instead of Ohtani. Tired of bad draft picks traded for RPs who suck.
  16. That's true. My only problem with it all is that all these guys are basically 2023 and done. So what happens in 2024+ and we have none of that depth, less prospects to use and (maybe) no money to spend after 50-60M to Ohtani. Some of the older prospects are gonna need to come thru in 2024+ big time. But alas, that's next year.
  17. I remember that so well because the following day (late morning), i saw Haren at South Coast Plaza. It was very random.
  18. Ditto the "Brillance" commentary -- well done AJ
  19. 100% -- but you nailed the issue/problem (bolded above). Arte will spend money, but it's always very top heavy for a big-slash name toy. Which is the WORST way to run a baseball organization. It worked in 2004 because we still had the Stoneman farm system and organization in place -- but that wasn't kept up obviously.
  20. super weird franchise. trading assets from a weak system for 4 rentals when the reality is that your team just isn't very good is odd. Not only desperation. It seems like Arte is the sole driver here. I can't imagine a good, competent GM would evaluate this team, and the organization as a whole, and truly think this is the best option for the organization. I actually think if Perry had his way, he'd have traded Ohtani last summer and done a proper rebuild; and maybe once the owner saw it, he'd finally see the light and allow true changes up & down the organization. Unfortunately, the luck (& hard work) that caused/enabled them to get Trout and Ohtani has actually been the downfall of the organization. Keeping them with the mindset that they can win and be successful. They can't. They've been on this road to nowhere for like 5-7 years....and it'll continue for years to come. We have Trout and Ohtani has shiny toys to watch & play with -- but ultimately history will look back on (& current does now) as a complete and utter failure & embarrassment that this organization could not do anything with two of the greatest players in baseball history. One day they both will be gone unfortunately (& hopefully Arte too) and maybe then the organization can right itself and build a proper ground up franchise.
  21. keep telling yourself sweetie. Eventually when you change things up enough, you'll be right.
