  1. Seriously? Maybe try reading better before you quote/reply. I think you missed the word "everyone". Everyone does not mean one source/person. Kind of an important detail.
  2. Even if Trout were ranked #8 by everyone (not the case), it still shows how meaningless the rankings are at draft time. It's fun as fans, but in reality it's worthless. I'm sure each team has wildly different rankings of the players -- and even then, they are WAY wrong for what the players ultimately become.
  3. well the organization can't develop any players. So might as well draft a guy closest to the majors and avoid screwing him up like they usually do.
  4. Trade him for whatever you can get. And for the love of God, make Arte sell this team. Enough with an owner who wants a fancy sports car and clothes to show off, meanwhile his house is rotting and falling apart from the inside.
  5. The team, organization, owner, etc. -- all suck. Burn it all down, clean with bleach and start over again from scratch.
  6. Ohtani is a different cat -- as evidence by him signing with the Angels in the first place. But let's be honest, would you sign on with the Angels if you were him? Maybe if Arte had indeed sold this team like he should have and you believed in the new ownership group. But with Arte, the Angels Organization has been a complete mess the past 10 years. If Ohtani stays on, then nobody should feel sorry for him not playing in the playoffs and meaningful games. Not that you should feel sorry for a horribly rich athlete that has more money than you could dream to ever spend in a few lifetimes.
  7. Any team trading for Ohtani is doing so for winning the WS this year -- not necessarily for the LT of Ohtani. So them giving up producing ML talent in return makes no sense. The trade here is for prospects only. A top 10-20 overall guy who's a 2024 option + a guy in the 50-120 range + maybe 2 very young (17-19 yr old) promising but far out pieces (int'l or recent HS draftees). If any current ML players come in return, i'd expect it to be guys for salary match (if a team cares about that) or a former high ranked guy who is not cutting it (yet) at the ML level.
  8. Maybe our 8 scouts all specialize in pitching. Hopefully we can hire one catching scout for next years draft
  9. I actually like what they've done with all the Ps. Some of them are lottery ticket types...which is good. I just am surprised and a bit disappointed there hasn't been one catcher thrown into the mix at some point. But whatevs...all good
  10. really hope we're saving a few bucks the last several picks -- to use on an overslot HS guy
  11. I don't know who you are...nor do i see anything about you....but welcome to the Angels Jake!
  12. Last two picks have been uninspiring -- at least from a MLB draft rankings perspective (which likely doesn't mean much at all). Still...hope a stud HS pitcher or catcher is coming soon
  13. In the 4th round, i don't mind taking a guy who is very likely (or even for sure) a RP. If you think he's good, then take him. Angels sure as heck could use some high quality, home grown RPs right now. So no problem with it -- if the scouts (all 8 of them) believe in the guy then great...i'm in
  14. Big time tells you what Perry thinks of our farm system and where we are lacking
  15. Another college pitcher -- awesome! high floor, low ceiling -- meh. I'll still take it over a MI/OF
  16. Lets go pitcher again in 3rd round. HS -- Thatcher Hurd College route -- Sean Burke
  17. Looks a little Skaggs like being so tall throwing that curve. Wonder if this means we're not getting Sam under slot. Still possible i guess -- for use in 3+. But looking less likely now.
  18. One option: Ky Bush, LHP, St. Mary’s College, 6-6, 240, age 21 Baseball America rank: No. 47 BA scouting grade (20-80): 50 | BA risk evaluation: High Fastball: 60 | Curveball: 45 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 55 Scout’s take: Went 7-5 with a 2.99 ERA and 112 strikeouts to just 19 walks in 78.1 innings in his only season at St. Mary’s. A giant left-hander with a really good arm, which don’t fall off trees every day. Fastball has touched 96 mph.
  19. We picked a pitcher -- I'm seriously pretty darn happy with that. For some reason i can't shake the feeling he just looks physically like a RP. But whatever, can't complain. Just glad it's not another athletic OF/MI who just started playing baseball a couple weeks ago. Sure Kumar was there to be taken, but MLB draft (for a multitude of reasons -- whether right or not) just doesn't fall under the BPA selection process. They had 2-3 guys identified and it would be them no matter what. Now go get some more pitchers today 2-10....maybe sprinkle a catcher in there while you're at it.
