  1. lol -- the fact you had to write a post saying that and convenience me is very adorable and funny (& very telling about you as well). Thanks, i enjoyed it. You resorting to name calling is very predictable too. The Gatekeeper -- "you shall not pass!" lol. BTW, your naivety towards sports owners is adorable as well.
  2. Calm down...it's only a game. But i guess the truth hurts you huh.
  3. The team signing him in FA will regret paying so much. Unless they win the WS with him contributing in that first half of the contract -- then it's worth it obviously. But the Angels are not winning in WS in the foreseeable future. If they resign him, it'll be yet another anchor on the team preventing them from putting a real winning team on the field. But the owner will make money off of him -- that's all someone like Arte cares about though.
  4. No way Arte's ego will allow him to give the ok to trading Ohtani. Even if they lost every game for the next 3-4 weeks. But if he did and was out on the market, he would go for WAY more than people say. He's two elite players; not one. He's a marketing machine that will bring a ton of money into the team that trades for him even if it's only until the end of the season. He also enables such team to have a 3+ month head start of selling him in FA. All of this is unique to any pending FA in MLB history. If he gets traded (he won't), it will be a LOT coming back to the Angels.
  5. Except that's NOT what i said. I said picking a 1B that early isn't done by teams and if done, it's rarely. Trying to change my words to now say that i'm saying no 1B has ever been drafted in the 1st round is dishonest and is making you both seem like your more interested in supporting whatever the team does 100% rather than have a discussion. Look at the drafts recently -- 1B only guys is incredibly rare. Last year a 1B wasn't drafted until 29th. Usually, it's a guy who has multiple positional options. Is it that hard for you to understand this point? Others have shown this to be the case, yet you go on like this selection of a 1B only guy at #11 is not even the slightest bit surprising. I guess pretty much every media draft reviewer and agency is wrong too. I'm still unsure why you are calling me out for insults. Maybe that other guy is related to you or something...that's the only thing i can think of for you to be saying i'm insulting him when he is the one who told me to "fuck off". It's a weird line in the sand to draw with me saying gramps is the end all for you; yet being told "fuck off" is acceptable. But you do you. Obviously you have some agro going on internally for continuing with this ridiculous back & forth.
  6. I don't see any way Arte and his ego allows Perry to trade him. Having said that, if they did, i think the offers will be higher than what some think. Not only because Ohtani is so unique and could put a team over the top for winning the WS this year. Rather, a team that wants to sign him this off-season would now have the HUGE advantage of selling their team/organization to Ohtani for the next 3-4 months exclusively and way more in depth than will happen when free agency starts. This is especially helpful to a team that may be considered on the outside due to their location (e.g., East coast teams like NYY, etc.). That is something we've never really seen before (not at this level and uniqueness with him being from Japan) and could make a team give up an extra to get him.
  7. Good -- that's the whole point of things. I'm glad we're on the same page. BTW, thanks for the "kid" comment -- i'm actually an adult with my own kids, so being called a "kid" again is quite nice and refreshing.
  8. come on, that was funny. He was referencing things from 34-45+ years ago. That's hardly name calling...and "calm down"?!?!.....did you hit your head or are you having a stroke? Maybe you're the cranky old grandpa. Take that stick out. Life is short, try to enjoy it and have some fun.
  9. ok, so a handful of guys over the course of the past 20 years (600+ picks). If anything, i think you just proved my point that 1B are not valued by teams so early in the draft. This guy in particular was not rated that high and thus the expectation he'd go under slot. No need to get upset with me. I'm not the only one saying it -- here and throughout the media "experts". Heck, i hope the guy because the greatest hitting 1B ever and a HOFer. BTW: i'm supposedly all insults to you (i said his "post was idiotic") and yet him initially telling me to Fck-off beforehand is conveniently ignored. Kind of weird/odd to go after me with that comment. My response to him telling me to fck-off seemed pretty tame, but i guess you didn't. interesting.
  10. Ummm, what?!?!? I think you might have quoted the wrong person. The other guy literally told me to "fuck off" -- and yet it's me that you are quoting and saying to calm down. lol ok bro, ok.
  11. Yeah, a list that couldn't find anyone within the last 33 years lol. Don't get mad at me for you taking a bad position and making an idiotic post. It happens dude...wear it with pride.
  12. ok, seriously -- i'll let it go for a decade...maybe two....but come on Gramps. Can we stay within the same millennium?!?
  13. You're seriously not referencing 1989 are you? 34 years ago.....34 lol oooh my. I'm kind of embarrassed for you . The fact you using something from 34 years ago to support it should tell you all that you need to know here.
  14. There's a reason why nobody picks 1B in the draft that early....and even in the whole 1st round rarely. Arguing the point is a losing cause. Facts are facts. I think i'm more annoyed that it was not an under slot signing than the actual selection of a 1B. Still, you have the #11 pick -- time to get a true difference maker and at a valued position. Whether that be a SP or somewhere else. 1B is a bad selection.
  15. I thought this was supposed to be the 'optimism' thread?
  16. Yet another reason and more proof that the anchor sinking this franchise is the owner -- Arte. I'm pretty darn sure the GM believes we should trade Ohtani and should have done so at last years TDL (and then again during this past off season and now). But Arte. I wonder if he has any self-awareness and realizes what a complete joke he has become across MLB from fans/media/etc. One day he'll be gone (one way or another) and maybe then this organization can earn my money again.
  17. From your lips to Gods ears. I sure hope so. But i can't let myself ever get my hopes up again...i'll believe it when i see it
  18. weird and a bit of a bummer draft so far. It feels like someone who has no confidence in their system to develop players...and also a bit of lack of confidence in their LT staying power as GM.
  19. In 8-9 months, the Angels will be starting the 2024 season tied for 1st place!
  20. He gone. Best to get what you can now rather than squeeze out the remaining 10 weeks of Ohtani as an Angel.
  21. Indeed. But Arte's ego is too big. He simply can't get out of his own way and keep from ruining this organization. But at least the angels scouting and development team will have a 2nd round comp pick next year to turn into the next great Angel
  22. “He shouldn't require much development time as a pro and could become one of the first 2023 draftees to reach the Majors.” lol, lucky for him considering he was picked by the Angels.
  23. Great input and response. You're right -- it was a great pick. Nothing negative about it. The whole draft has been amazing. I change my "whelmed" to overwhelmed. Cheers.
  24. I'd say i'm very underwhelmed by the angels picks so far (this one especially), but this is the angels we're talkign about....so i'm just whelmed.
