  1. It's pretty shocking the lineup today compared to opening day. Indeed basically a middle of the road (at best) AAA lineup.
  2. That’s delicious. Hopefully the baseball Gods take away all the bad Angel curses and toss into the Ms for this turd muffin.
  3. Thanks for adding in a different stat. I said WAR - which was -.01 and now is worse. But by any metric except walks/obp, he’s going to have to do better to stay LT. Much better power wise to be an elite or top level 1B. He’s young and has time. Probably would have been better served staying in minors to develop a bit more. But the Angels are in a weird place with everything.
  4. Who said the drafts were "bad"? Show me and i'll give you props for that. Stad was fawning over the drafts. My comments, and others, were pumping the brakes on the amazing accolades Strad was pushing simply due to these 5 guys being on the team. Personally, i also commented that with three straight top 1/3rd picks by Perry, I wish we didn't go ALL of them with high floor, early to MLs guys that have low chances at reaching a high ceiling. That's all. But i said i understood going that route due to the win-now circumstances with Ohtani and complete lack of depth within the organization. I'm hoping we don't go 4-for-4 next draft doing the same. that's it. No hyperbole required.
  5. Others answered you already. But i'll repeat them. Touting Schanuel as a 1Bman with a 300 slugging percentage and negative WAR -- nice gymnastics. Joyce has a near 3 WHIP and surgery -- even if he makes it back and does well, he's a RP (start the parade smh). Bachman -- another failed SP who needs to fight the injuries in hopes of becoming a RP (amazing pick). Detmers is an unknown -- big highs and big lows. There's potential for a valuable starter there but when will it happen and with the consistency that is needed. If by "performing" you simply mean they are on the field for this team -- ok, you got me. But there is a big difference from being out on the field "performing" versus actually "producing". I think you're just trying too hard. Sure, depth and replacement level guys are needed -- especially when you have some elite high-priced players. Unfortunately, some of those high-priced Angels are not "performing" (see what i did there) and/or can't stay healthy. What this team and organization needs is some elite, exciting young difference makers. Actually, they need pretty much everything. But when you are drafting early in the 1st round, you should be aiming for and drafting/developing potential elite guys. Not RPs, backend SP and 0 WAR 1B with no slugging.
  6. Lol. That should be the new Angels marketing/tag line: The LA Angels - where players perform. Lol. Classic Strad.
  7. You're serious with that comment? I sure hope not. The reason they have a lot of guys making the majors is because the team suck and they are promoting fast in a desperate move for success. Not to mention, as i stated, they are drafting advanced college players early on in hopes to get them onto the team as soon as possible. Most are high floor, low ceiling types. Which is fine. But where are the potential stars and elite players? It's basically our farm system sucks and we have no organizational depth. So we need to draft some immediate depth now to salvage hopes of trying to contend for playoffs during Trout (& more so) Ohtani's time. which is fine and fully understandable. But let's not pretend that the Angels are onto something great here and new methodology for MLB franchises building a team. This is no TB Rays organization. It's a desperate team taking desperate measures. I'm not sure why some try so hard to sugar coat it. We're adults (mostly of us) -- we can admit the failings of the organization and what its been & currently now is. Fanbases around baseball are not exactly envious of the Angels and their organization (that's being kind). We all hope for the best and hope we can get very lucky to turn it around quickly. But that's really all we have...hoping for luck...and LOTS of it. Because reality and the facts are against this organization compared to the rest of the league.
  8. Relax Turbo -- have you heard of sarcasm? Well, maybe only partially sarcastic since i wouldn't put it past the Angels & crew to do so.
  9. Let's be real here -- even if they got the #1 pick, they are not picking a HS player. Nope. It'll be an older college player like a 3B, corner OF or a back end SP (who may need to move to BP)....and is a relatively easy sign.
  10. This is actually the most exciting thing the past few weeks.
  11. Totally. I've been having posters whine and cry to me that i'm always posting negative comments and such. But look at the facts and the organization's actions. When something positive happens, i'll post about it and certainly will enjoy that moment. However, it's all crap and clown show. Anyone who thinks otherwise and is enjoying this organization and supporting their actions is clueless and living in a dream world.
  12. Such bad timing for Ohtani. It's too bad...for him. His FA this offseason now becomes even more interesting. This is yet another reason he should have been traded during the last 12 months. SP themselves are super prone now to arm injuries. Adding onto it a guy who is a legit everyday MOTO slugger....doing both is simply not sustainable on the human body. Dude is a unicorn for doing it as much as he has during his career. I'm not so sure the medical staff is 100% to blame. Ohtani is very competitive and wants to win badly. I'm sure he was pushing to play/pitch as much as possible.
  13. Nailed it. King AO. But watch out - some don’t want to hear it. The truth hurts.
  14. Oh sorry Chuck - I guess I missed the title for this thread that said it was an only optimistic, positive, everything is awesome thread. I thought it was discussing our farm system and prospects - meaningfully. Good or bad. If it’s all sunshine thread then just say so. Call the thread that and I’ll take reality out. I’ll join in with the unrealistic convo, if you want, and pretend we have a great future and tons of prospects to take us to the glory land. Otherwise, how about we allow different opinions and not impose censorship. I understand business is Angels. But sometimes you need to call a spade a spade. Also, I didn’t come in saying these things. The conversation just went that way. But I get it - you don’t want to hear it. I’ll go away.
  15. So “contribute” in your mind means being positive and supportive of the team regardless of any facts that prove otherwise. Got it. 2030 here we come!
  16. agreed -- they simply are not good enough comparatively to the rest of the league. It's been that way for several years -- and will continue to be that way for a few more years at least.
  17. would you rather me add onto the BS floated by delusional fans who think we're a RP away or some better injury luck away from contending. I'm not going to "soccer mom" it for you kid. The organization is in a very bad place. Even a complete tear down rebuild is unlikely because they don't have the pieces to do so. Ohtani was one piece to use -- but they went for it instead. I applaud the effort, but it's misplaced and filled with bad judgement. As IP says, there is a path to getting out of the funk and become a winning team with the chance at getting into the playoffs. Unfortunately, the organization/owner has proven year after year that they do not want to take that path -- they continually want to try a quick fix...trying to hit a 7-run home run with the bases empty. You have almost 10 years of empirical evidence to go off of -- wake up. Personally, I'll believe the change when i actually see it happen and it's fully implemented throughout this organization from the very bottom to the top. You just are clinging to some wide-eye kid hope & dream. But if you want to hope & dream -- keep doing so. Don't let others like me get you down. Enjoy the Angels baseball, continue to think their poo doesn't stink and believe in Santa Claus. It's just odd for someone to whine & reply to posters who don't feel the same way as you. But really there is no way out of this without HUGE and drastic changes. That's why offering some ideas is hopeless -- there is just way too many needed. Some of which (new owner) isn't an option that's available. So things are the way they are for the angels....and won't change for several years. You should be used to that by now. But if not, you likely got the rest of the decade to get you there.
  18. I think some are being a bit homerish. I’d trade spots with 25-27 teams when talking good young MLB talent. Maybe more. If farm systems, 27-28 teams.
