there's a point where a lack of a proper spring impacts the economics of any deal for these players.  
are we confident that Snell and Montgomery are going to be as good as expected in the first year?  
theoretically it might pull a couple starts out but preparing for the season while actually in season is much different than getting your reps in from the beginning.  
It could affect the entire year.

Man, Mederos has looked like a completely different pitcher from what we saw last year. He has looked more calm and collective while harnessing his command/control of his stuff. There is some really solid #2/3 upside in him with his power stuff. He really does remind me  alot of G-rich before the TJ. 2 plus pitches, with an good curve. 
Koch, in the limited spring training, looks like he can have a solid career with just his sinker alone. He gets that pitch deep inside and hitters are struggling. 
Dana, Dudes getting eyes on him, and I would not be surprised if he finds himself on a few top 100 list either by end of spring or   early in the season. Dominating stuff!

Or Boston looks at it as throwing good money after bad. They’ve been frugal the past few years. Also lefties in Boston traditionally struggle.

I’d go 5 years $115 million for Montgomery. For Snell I’d offer about the same as Nola. 

He had a slider he used less than 5% last year… maybe he ups that usage?
The sinker has a bit of a different shape than the fastball, which helps.
