Woke, woke, woke I wish everyone would just lighten up. I am really beginning to hate the word woke. People make such a simple word sound like something evil. l don't care about our new owners politics as long as he puts a competitive team on the field, I'm good with that...

I wouldn't say elite, but i'd definitely agree with have a deep rotation with options.
Canning, to me, is a write-off. It's been a ling time since he's been reliable and he's a huge injury risk.
Minasian's 2021 draft will strongly help with depth this year.
Bachman, Bush, Murphy, Silseth and Torres could provide help in some form.

Good point, saying how things truly look can offend a lot of people.

I still think I'd be shopping a Suarez-Rengifo package to see what kind of starting pitcher options that can get me, then use whatever money left over before the luxury tax on the bullpen.
Depending on the return, I bet the Angels could creep up toward 90 wins and a playoff spot. In my opinion, right now they're like an 85 win team. Minasian has been aggressive and off your not going to sell off assets then I like it, I just think his work it's unfinished.
    It's incomplete.

Cueto or Wacha are still decent options, and shouldn’t command $10 million.

Chris sale might not even get claimed if he went into the waiver wire.

Eovaldi is the only free agent SP who has the stuff to be a front-end guy.
    That’s the appeal to me.

Heyman reported the Angels were interested in Anderson before they signed him.
And FWIW, he’s also the one who said they have interest in Eovaldi and Kluber. So I don’t think that rumor is just manufactured.

Rengifo for Sale....I would do that in a heartbeat. Rengifo is a solid middle infielder. Chris Sale is an ace. How often could you say that you acquired a look whit Cy Young candidate in return for a solid middle infielder?
It's a risk. But if Sale we're healthy, I think that would push the Angels into the 90 win range on the strength of their rotation.

Houston are the team to bear in the division. their lineup, pitching are fucked stacked even woth verlander. Your looking at a 95-105 win team.
I actually think, Seattle and Us are in a similar tier, both teams looking between 88-95 wins. We have the edge on the the offensive end, Starting is even, and seattle has the edge on the BP.
Texas, is slighty undeer that, at best there a 90 win team, but I think'll they be between 82-90 wins. to be they are the pefect example of the 2010-2017 angels, alot of start talent but high injury risk. Boom or bust for them.
Last is the A's, who could have another magic run but most likey last place.
    Can't wait til we start doing predictions, but this is how I think the Al-west stands out;
    1. Astros: 99- 62
    2. Seattle: 92- 69
    3. Angels: 89- 73
    4. Rangers; 85-77
Personal projects of the top 5 AL
    1. Astros: 99-62
    2. Yanks; 96-65
    3. Seattle: 92-69
    4. Jays: 91-71
    5. Angels 89-73

I REALLY don't trust Jose Suarez in the starting rotation with a pitch clock. Another starter is very necessary, maybe even two more.
Also, now that we know what premier shortstops are worth on the open market, Rengifo and Fletcher, who are both solidly average, take on more value, as does Zach Neto. Not saying trade them, I'm just saying, be grateful and aware of what you have.

If you can get a SS you trade him if you sign another starter.

Perry deciding to take the quantity over quality approach for SS is.... concerning.
Still hoping there's a trade in the works.
Sure, we're deeper than we were, but we're still a 3rd place team.
And isn't Minasian supposed to build a winner to keep Ohtani?

Our offseason would be a lot better if Perry went out and got a legit shortstop.
This whole mix/match thing, with injuries and the shortstop position being Fletcher is going to get old quick.
Renfroe, Urshela and Drury are all nice but we still need that everyday shortstop.
We also need another starting pitcher but the fact Perry hasn’t done anything about that or SS yet doesn’t exactly make it seem like it was ever a priority

Regardless they’ll have to spend a hefty amount to be competitive for 2024

angelsnationtalk reacted to Second Base in If the Angels managed to lock up Ohtani before Opening Day, would you consider this off-season a success?
No. The measure of offseason success is how the team performs during the season. I will consider the off-season a success if the Angels make the playoffs.
Ohtani alone is a contributor towards success, but not the answer. As everyone here knows, having the two best players on planet means Jack squat when they're not playing in October.

i think @Jeff Fletcher said it best with his tweet.
It's a clubhouse culture Perry is trying to create. Bauer is probably at the end of that list to add.
