  1. There's been no environmental impact study performed. That process alone could take 2-3 years to complete. This is all just a ruse to scare the voters to unseat Tom Tait. The Anaheim city officials know that Arte has too sweet a deal to pack and leave. Tustin is just happy to be mentioned even if it's just politics. Arte will be back at the negotiating table with Anaheim after the elections. I'm sure that the Tustin officials will get some nice wine and cheese.

Tait will be unseated. He is ignorant.

  2. If you can list Salmon's accomplishments that put him in the same category of the top players in his playing years that had their numbers retired I will be willing to concede. Even dial it back ten years, I just don't see anything Salmon did that was that remarkable he never lead the league in any offensive category.

Very good player, great guy, not a hall of fame candidate. You should probably at this point in the Franchise history be a little more picky about what numbers are retired. Mr. 299 is probably not that guy.

PleAse oh wise one, tell us how Fregosi was better than Salmon. We wait on baited breath.

  3. Agree with Mudville about its understanding the Franchise.... That being said, he certainly doesn't understand the Angels Franchise if he doesn't think Salmon's 15 should be retired. 15 should be retired just as 11 should be.

The only number I currently have a problem with is 28. Carews best years were with the Twins. He made it to the HOF because of what he did with the Twins, and he is wearing a Twins hat in the hall. The retiring of his number was primarily done to make up for the way Bavasi handled his departure. It was "throwing a bone"... And you should NEVER retire a number for that reason...

  4. For as much as I hated the name change at the time, I am ALL IN on TEAM ARTE on this one.

The CoA is a pompous bunch of d-bags who think that the sun rises in the Anaheim Hills and sets just beyond Euclid.  They think that Anaheim came BEFORE Disney, BEFORE the Angels... Disney isn't going anywhere - they can't.  But the Rams proved you can leave and the Angels will too.

However, the Angels will NOT be leaving SoCal... they will end up in Tustin/Irvine area where there is plenty of room and the team will be appreciated.  Sorry - the WILL NOT be moving north - there is no reason to.  The won't be moving away to Las Vegas or anywhere else for that matter - they will not leave the second largest media market in the country.  The stadium IS old and IS rotting from within and the best thing for the Angels to do is either build new on the current lot or build new somewhere else.

I just hope it happens sooner rather than later... I hate to think about waiting till 2019 for this to happen.

  5. I think you will find that most fans of every other team would probably feel the same way. Barring maybe the Yankees and Red Sox fans. It will be especially prevalent for fans of teams that haven't made the playoffs in recent years.

What is that?  With this pitching staff and coaching staff we should be happy to make the playoffs.

Why do you think that NYY and BOS are the perennial contenders that they are.  Its because their fan base EXPECTS it and won't settle for anything less than a WS.

A great number of Angels fans could learn something those fan bases.  They could also learn how to expect it without being assholes.  Wouldn't that be refreshing?
