Sorry for the misinformation, when talking to my physical therapist about these issues with various pro athletes vs what I’m rehabbing she pointed out that Ingram had clotting issues which they feared were blood related but instead were structural and corrected by surgery which I misinterpreted to mean they were different than the thoracic outlet issues Fulton and others suffered from. I was just happy to hear he didn’t have what led Chris Bosh to retire.

Nope, he had a structural problem that caused blood clots which they successfully corrected. The only reason I keep track of all these athlete's shoulder problems is I've been rehabbing my own right shoulder for six months after too many years of baseball, basketball, golf and computer mousing repetitive movements or so I've been told.

makepeac got a reaction from yk9001 in How overrated is Bryce Harper?
Great article in the Washington Post by respected baseball writer Thomas Boswell on the ‘Nats new emphasis on fundamentals and team play with this telling passage on the perceived loss of Harper:
“Though few mention it, subtracting Harper, while it will cost 34 homers, a .899 career OPS and some amazing hair flips, would help any team improve its attention to fundamentals. When the most famous player on the team can’t go 10 days without failing to run out a groundball or overthrowing a cutoff man by 15 feet or throwing to the wrong base or being caught unprepared in the outfield or on the bases, it’s hard to demand total alertness from the other 24.
“Write it,” one prominent Nats vet said.
Losing Harper carries a high cost. But if the Nats don’t play a crisper, less mistake-riddled brand of baseball without him, it’s an opportunity wasted. Rizzo has done many things right, but in Bryce’s early years, when he had “players’ managers” who rarely said a discouraging word and owned no whip, Rizzo should have been the bad cop to tell him the truth about the gaps in his game. But the GM had such a high opinion of Harper personally — always referred to as “such a great kid” — that he couldn’t make the leap to “but also an overindulged player.”

As you can see in the photo, I remember from reading his biography that Joe was one of the first hitters to hold the bat gripping it all the way down at the handle, using a thinner handled bat than others of the era, unlike contemporaries like Ty Cobb, not choking up and slapping the ball but driving it with a slight uppercut. Apparently it influenced a young Babe Ruth who with his size and strength took it to a whole nother level. The beginning of the end of the dead ball era from a hitting technique standpoint.
