The term decimation comes from the ancient Roman practice of killing every tenth man as a punishment for things like cowardice, mutiny, desertion, allowing inherited runners to score etc Maybe this is just what the pen needs.
Here is an idea. Let's have the bullpen draw straws the next time they blow a lead. The guy with the short straw will then be beaten to death on the mound by the others.
That should provide some incentive to get the ball in the zone.- WicketMaiden and Taylor

FWIW, dude is still walking. All hope is not lost for his hitting, but how is he fielding?
That is really the thing I'm worried about.

Since the Angels showed Albert the door with the blunt end of their boot, what now happens with the personal services contract?

The Dodgers had incredible starting pitching depth coming into the season. Now, a month later, they need pitching.

I'm mostly just a reader here, but I've been a reader for years.
This is truly sad news. RIP.

If Ohtani had been injury free in his career I would think he already would have thrown one. He is truly amazing.
But given his injury history, who the heck knows. I certainly hope so. -
Daaaaaam. What a way to end it.

for sure. i'm just wondering why anyone would want us to add them. i suppose it's the grass is greener logic. our bullpen looks to be pretty weak, so anybody else must be better.
I didn't vote yes because I want them to add one, I voted yes because I think they will.

Walsh gets a nice mention in this article on MLB. Dude could put up a few solid years for us.

The one play that always gets me out of my seat, even at home, is the suicide squeeze.
In that singular instance, to me, it's the most exciting play in the game.

Ahhhh, come on now.
There are always some sourpusses, but this site is usually bubbling with enthusiasm this time of year. Of course we are. We love baseball and we love this team.
The past few years the optimism has lasted until the Angels get off to a slow start and then a pitcher leaves a game early with a stiff elbow. That's when we get the cold slap in the face from reality. However, this year does feel different. I think our jinx is over. I really do.

Does anyone know if Upton is advising Adell on lines to the ball?
That blunder into the wall looked exactly like something Upton would pull. -

Wow, he must have had a fine catcher to hit that number. I love a knuckleballer but I do feel for the poor sod behind the plate who has to receive them.
I remember Steve Yeager complaining about Wilhelm when I was a kid. If I remember correctly, Yeager had a special mitt made just to catch Wilhelm.

Some managers seem to consistently field teams that outperform their pythagorean W/L expectations based on runs scored/allowed. Could there be a correlation between this and their ability to foster a positive team chemistry?
Seems to me that the manager can have a stronger effect on team chemistry than any other single person. -

Henderson is the most underrated "legend" guy out there. I was too young to see his peak, but looking at his numbers, wow.
Id take a team of 9 hims vs a team of 9 power guys any day.
Nine Rickey Hendersons vs nine Barry Bonds?

I can see it happening. Likely not, but I've been halfway anticipating it this past week.

If you had to start a team with two generational players on the same team, who would they be?

It's not entirely implausible to think Ohtani may one day be the GOAT, but right now he doesn't belong on the same list as the other names.
If you're looking at their value relative to peers, you have to go with Ruth and Gehrig, no?
