All day yes.  This team needs to reduce the number of question marks.

Screw it, just sign Story.  Five years $115 M with an opt out after two years.

How many cars are parked at Oggi’s this morning?  Could be a significant pizza ingredient option change in the works?

I understand you’re point but there also shouldn’t be anyone comfortable with another Trout injury.
I want to build a roster that wins, and I think the correct mindset is to objectively improve the team assuming Trout (and Rendon and Ohtani) stay healthy, since this needs to be the case for success anyway.
In a nutshell, I can accept not winning if Trout gets hurt and then the OF sucks. I can’t stomach not winning passing on rotation upgrades just to make sure our OF is passable if Trout gets hurt.

For Lodge to do an even decent job, shouldn’t he be closer to sources on the team than just observing what cars are in the parking lot?
Is it just me, or is this kind of embarrassing for him as a “professional” covering the team?
He can’t see how dopey this makes him look?

My entire outlook on this team this year changes if they:
    Trade for Montas
    Sign Story

They do those two things and this team is a real, real contender.
The budget would be perfectly fine and the farm system would not be “gutted” if they built the deal round Marsh.
Just a little side note, Trout is the CF so the value of Marsh’s CF defense isn’t even deliverable to the Angels in the next couple of seasons.

The should get into a bidding war, with the intention of winning the bidding war.  The reality is Montas is rationally worth to the Angels based on the Angels specific needs, so they should be willing to pay a higher price than other teams.
I would also be very happy to make a deal with Oakland where the Angels pay the price to get Montas with offensive prospects and hold on to Detmers and Bachman.
I am not going to be bothered by watching Montas in an Angel uniform facing Marsh in an A’s uniform.

I know the “within the division” thing, but how on earth are the Angels not leading the way in pursuing Montas?
The Angels don’t need a guy that made 32 starts last year and pitched 187 innings of 3.37 era, 1.18 WHIP, and 4.1 WAR?
If the Angels are not aggressively trying to acquire this guy, I really don’t even know what to say.

If the Angels are not willing to give up any of the players you list for a guy like Montas, then they are fools.
The standard knee-jerk (not suggesting YOU are doing this) of “We can’t gut the farm” is tired.
Paying a fair price for Montas will not gut the farm.  He will cost probably Marsh and if the As play hardball another body that likely will ultimately be insignificant long term.
The other complaint is always, “not for only that amount of control.”
How about make the trade and extend the guy like the Braves did with Matt Olson or the Jays did with Berrios?

Don't get me wrong, I like the signing, but this is the sort of move that's really helpful for a team that is already good for 90-ish wins. For us, it's just a decent pickup that probably doesn't change the overall success of the team much.

So glad this mediocre team is so dialed in and really knows how to be exactly who they are.
In other news, ugly drunk guy who has a history of hitting on ugly fat chicks hits on an ugly fat chick.

Perry references the “what have you done for me lately?” concept presumably to take the immediate pressure off of him needing to make significant moves now after the lockout.
That would be fine, Perry, if the team had been to the playoffs somewhat periodically over the last decade.
Sorry dude, reality check.   The fans have specific, rational concerns that are not resolved, and the team has no recent history of overcoming these kinds of unresolved issues.
Until that is no longer true, you don’t get to wave it all off as fans just saying “What have you done for me lately?”
