  1. Angels management needs to assure us they are committed to a World Series. I don't fault players but expect management to provide us the right players
  2. Angel management has to assure us it hasnt.
  3. Uphold tradition You have the same record as the 2009 team on this date. Angel tradition has been established. Maintain it.
  4. Shouldn't be depressed about a great page of Angel history.
  5. Interesting to note on that date the Angels were at .500. They went on to win 97 games that year. Ironically, a win on June 9, 2017 puts the team at .500.
  6. I think this continued after he retired.
  7. I think the health of Richards and Skaggs will determine whether the Angels will reload or rebuild. I give Billy Eppler props for trying to keep the team going while waiting on the verdict.
  8. We needed some good news amidst all the struggles and injuries.
  9. Oh well. We'll probably go through a few more recycled players before the season is over. I think it's smart not to invest heavily into this season because the pitching injuries are too great.
  10. I totally supported the Howie for Heaney deal and still do, but losing him is worse than I imagined.
  11. Being an Angels fan for over 50 years, I really have to say we're the greatest baseball fans in the world. We went 46 years before experiencing more than two winning seasons in a row. We're indestructible. We can handle anything. I'm convinced of that.
  12. It's a money making venture for MLB unless the proceeds go to veterans causes. 42 on Robinson Day, pink on Mother's Day, unis on Memorial Day, caps on July 4, caps for the All Star Game, Labor Day, World Series patches, alternate uniforms. We're lucky if we see one white home uni or one gray road uni per week. Normal uniforms have turned into the only special occasion left.
  13. Astros went in the tank for several years to get where they are.
  14. What a hideous uniform. Seems fitting that the poster child for it is BubbleAss.
  15. You and he had something in common as Phillie fan and player surviving that terrible disappointment in the 1964 pennant race. That had to be as hard for you as 1986 with the Angels.
  16. No, but it has a baseball legacy and especially so when it comes to Robinson. I chose the Angels over the Dodgers because the Angels are the native team.
  17. Remarkable that Jackies's wife has outlived him by 45 years. Wish his team still was in Brooklyn, where his heroics were based.
  18. I think it's time for the Angels to listen. He's an all-time great for this franchise. He took a hometown discount to stay when he was on top of his game. Angel management decided to let him go, which is an understandable business decision, but to issue a player #36 the very next season is ridiculous. Similarly stupid to re-issue #27 the year after Vlad left (and before Trout). We have some bad decision making here.
  19. I think Scioscia brought Dodger baseball to the Angels at a time the FOX Dodgers abandoned Dodger baseball, followed up by an inept owner in McCourt. He got the most out of a talented team and won a World Series. That explains the championship to me. With 20-20 hindsight, Stoneman couldn't trade to win more World Series and the momentum fizzled. Consider if the Angels got Miguel Cabrera. Throw in some tragedy with Nick Adenhart, which led to Kasmir, Greinke, and loss of talent, to Arte's fling at buying a pennant and things went South. I kind of think Eppler can figure this out and get back on course.
  20. I think it's like Bobby Cox in Atlanta. He was highly successful in the 90s (although it was actually his second stint managing the Braves). In the 2000s things stagnated under his leadership, despite trying both the patch-up approach and somewhat of a rebuilding approach. Sometimes you need a new voice and fresh ideas. This decade the manager was not as successful despite having more stroke than the GM, than he was his first decade managing. My prediction is that after 2018, after 19 years managing, both sides will "mutually agree" to part ways. I think one reason you don't believe it will happen is because you want it to happen.
