You are so full of shit. At fifteen you have your parents looking at lawyer fees up the ass, the Lawyer telling you you're going to lose which means say bye bye until you are 18 at a juvenile facility then you get bounced to the adult facility. You would be shitting your pants and be looking at a deal with no jail time and a sealed record. You would roll over for that and you are lying saying at 15 you'd stand your ground. Just flat out lying.

People plea out every day without being guilty. Sometimes it's the only way to get out of that situation in one piece. This kid took the plea and no one was supposed to delve into his past and drag it out since it was supposed to be a sealed file. The courts fucked  up and a reporter decided on his own to burn the kid even though legally he wasn't supposed to have access to the case.

So quit the high and mighty shit.

And before you say something Facking stupid that I support child molesters I'm going to tell you now this subject matter has zero tolerance in my life.

You are so wrong, this is where being 15 comes into play.He was charged as a juvenile and his records were sealed. He would not have been any more jail time after turning 18.He fucked up and didn't report a change of address to his probation office. He violated his probation that is why the news came out,Don't give me this bullshit he was facing years of adult jail, that is just not true. His own brother said he thinks he did it.You say you have zero tolerance, seems like you don't if he is this guy.He is CONVICTED plain and simple.I'm sorry you think I'm all high and mighty because I believe in the courts decision. You need to read what he had to do just to get this plea, his statement to the court.

he was 15.  Did you read the entire story?  His attorney told him that he was likely to lose and that he should take the plea deal.  His parents agreed.  Are you telling me that most 15 year olds would have an understanding of this complex situation?

I have no idea if he's innocent or guilty.  If he is guilty then he's not wired right and never will be.  But the story he's sticking to in regard to his innocence is plausible at the very least.  If a team wanted to sign him and deal with the collateral after doing the due diligence and believing him with a willingness to support him then they can go for it.

I hope it's not the Angels.

It isn't right now that's the problem.  It's if and when he were to reach the majors.  Then it would start all over again.

There was talk of the Royals potentially trying to get him.

Can you imagine him being on the mound at Yankee stadium or in Fenway?

Yes, I read the story and have a while, did you read the part where the girl was 6 years old. I want to know why being 15 gives you a pass to do any thing you want.No team in their right mind will sign a convicted sex offender.

Bra, he was 15, he could have easily been coerced at such a young age.

My sister accused her husband of molesting their 7 year old daughter. My niece fell and scraped her knee, and then she asked her father to kiss her knee so it can feel better.

My niece then told her mom that "Daddy kissed her down there" and my sister called the police and claimed he kissed her daughter's vaginal area.  My sister knew it was on the knee but she wanted to punish her husband for not giving her money for marijuana.  He was in jail for several weeks before the judge threw the case out.

    Cute story eh?

Some women are psycho, and some police lie in order to get a confession.  It's not always as cut and dry as you think.

15 is no excuse, do not admit to molesting a child if you did not do it.When I was 15 I know I would NEVER admit to something like that.In your case they threw it out,in his case he pled guilty, what is so hard to understand.I'm not saying he did ,HE is by pleading guilty

     Child molestors are sub human.

I guess the justice department has never ever convicted som one who was innocent.

What if he didn’t do it and your judging someone you don’t know?

I just find it hard to believe OSU would let him join their org believing he did

    obvuously I could be wrong

He pled GUILTY!!! what more is there to say.Don't plead guilty if you are not.Now after the fact when his baseball career is in trouble he is now saying I didn't do it.Bullshit

I would do it. The circumstances are shady, but let's assume he's guilty. The guy made a mistake, does he need to be punished forever for it?

If there was ever a team that needed to take this type of risk, it's the angels. The current roster is very old and there's not much help on the way for a very long time.

He is not being punished forever, he can go do anything he wants. He lost any choice in some matters when he decided to molest his brothers daughter. I don't care what kind of legal advice he got he still pled guilty, would any of you plead guilty  to sexual assault on a child if you didn't do it.There's no way in hell I would. The victim in this case is being punished for the rest of her life, does that not matter to you guys who say he shouldn't be punished for the rest of his life. How would you feel if it was YOUR daughter, niece or granddaughter, might be a different story.Just my opinion.

It’s weird that this Deck Maguire guy was DFA’d by the Texas Rangers, who are horrible.  Yet somehow he’s immediately assigned to the Angels MLB team.  It seems unlikely that he’s not dog shit.  Would have preferred giving Jewel more of a look.

Oh well, what do I know I guess.

Jim Mora once said "You think you know, but you don't know", kinda like the rest of us

Isn't Roy Hobbs the guy who was voting down everyone's posts, so Chuck got rid of the down arrow in response?

Or do I have him confused with someone else?

I was scolded for using too many down votes, after that I didn't use them anymore.I also wasn't down voting everyone just a few choice individuals, and I did use them too much that night. It may have whiskey induced.I kind of feel honored that you guys think I'm some long time poster. The truth is like I said before, I've been an Angel fan for 55+ years and been reading this site since 2004.I would be happy to be called a super fan, I had season tickets for over 35 years and I watch almost every single game.

It’s tough, I do agree that the Angels made a mistake basically only bringing on Johnson to replace effective relievers that they lost.  But I also get that they had Parker who was great last year and Middleton who they liked a lot.  So I understand wanting to not spend money if you believe you have solid back end guys.  They could have brought Norris back cheaply and they should have.  I think the organization has seen enough of Bedrosian to know at this point that he’s unreliable at best.  So, probably another mistake there.  Also, knowing the collective damaged goods that make up our pitching staff.  Eppler probably should have known that having a strong pen would be important.  He left to much of it unknown and it’s worked out badly.

There is a lot of risk in putting significant money into bullpens tho.  Eppler isn’t completely wrong in his approach.

You are right about investing a lot of money in the bullpen being risky.I was just reading about the Rockies bullpen and how they invested a 106 million in three players.Their bullpen has given up 60 runs in 18 days.I think all it shows is there is no right way to do it.It comes down to having the right players and those players playing up to their capabilities no matter how much they make.I do know that this bullpen is unbelievably bad and it is so disheartening when the bullpen comes in.I have no idea what they can do about it.

Remember how some of the Vlad teams were "Vlad and a bunch of scrubs?"

Vlad's 2005 was the peak of that. His 5.3 fWAR represented 27% of the team offensive WAR.

Trout is at 6.2 this year out of the team's 12.9, including today. Yes, that's 48% of the team's total.

I could argue that WAR undervalued Vlad a bit given his unique skill set. But it can't explain away that kind of Grand Canyon-esque chasm.

Props for using chasm on a message board.

    I've had it with Scioscia.

Actually had enough of him about six years ago.

What a freakin' mess with no end in sight, because Arte will probably sign him up for a few more years.

My neighbor plays Xbox with someone who lives down the street from Scioscia. He heard that Mike is working on a 5 year deal, that way he can pass Walter Alston's 23 years managing one team
