  1. Trout, Heaney, Skaggs, Richards, Bedrosian all on the DL. I'm guessing Simmons and Maldonado are next
  2. Bad shit just follows this franchise around. I'm on board with tanking now. No way we stay competitive without the MVP This franchise has had more bad luck than any other. It's getting to the point where it's undeniable I could write an essay about all the strange bad luck this team has had over the last few decades and I bet if you compared it to other teams it would be astounding The only time I felt like this franchise wasn't cursed was from 2002-April 2009 - right up until Nick Adenhart died --RIP)
  3. This is revisionist history. Check his stat line from 2010-2012 and tell me he wasn't great. He was the 2nd best pitcher in the AL behind only Verlander over that time period
  4. Revere is freaking horrible. .250 OBP and zero power.
  5. I look at a few things that led to the demise: 1) Morales breaking his ankle - Pujols never happens if this doesn't occur 2) Reagins/Dipoto's years of consistent ineptitude combined with Arte being involved in player decisions (led to Pujols, Wells, Hamilton, etc etc.) 3) Not rebuilding after 2009. I get why we didn't, but I disagree with it. We didn't rebuild because we were coming off the most successful stint of Angels baseball ever. But we should have. We had a meh farm system and Lackey/Figgins/Vlad all left (3 huge parts of previous years success). We should have recognized that we didn't have the depth to replace those guys and torn it down right there IMO. But it's crying over spilt milk at this point
  6. Hats off to Billy Eppler, whoever the pitching coach is these days, and the guys chucking it 60 feet, 6 inches. They have faced a ton of adversity and exceeded my expectations by a lot. Great to see!
  7. Finally got Wright and Pounders out of there and put in some guys with actual upside. What a concept
  8. Good. He wasn't going to make any meaningful contribution this year anyway. Rest/rehab all offseason and be ready next February to pitch
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if Espinosa is getting a week off to try and clear his head, then they'll give him one more chance and if he still sucks he's getting DFA'd. He's been that bad
  10. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the "accountability" term. I say keep the guy if his message is working and fire him if you feel it's gotten stale/there are better options out there right now. Scioscia's the last remaining of the "golden era" of Angels baseball (2002-2009), and I get why it's tough to completely move on from that. But it's time. Everything has a shelf life, even good things.
  11. No manager wins without talent. Some win in the playoffs with talent (Bochy, Francona, etc), and some don't I find Scioscia's overall record in the playoffs to be pretty disturbing. Those Angels teams from the mid to late 2000s were very talented and we just couldn't get anything done. Same thing in 2014
  12. Although you didn't ask me, I would say someone from the front office having a discussion with him about his job and how the game is evolving (not saying that hasn't happened)would be a form of accountability. But obviously the only real way to hold a manager accountable is to fire him, which is what I think you're getting at
  13. I really thought we would sign this kid as a tribute to Vlad, but it's the Angels after all. What a moronic move going after Baldoquin instead of Moncada or Vlad Jr.
  14. Best manager in franchise history but it is time for him to go. Let Eppler pick his own manager if he's truly going to be the guy moving forward
  15. Scioscia needs to go. Scioscia isn't the problem this year. It's possible for those two things to be true.
  16. I think it's a valid discussion given that this team isn't making the playoffs with the current rotation of Shoemaker, Nolasco, Chavez, and whatever other scrubs they're rolling out there. I mean Trout will keep us "in contention" because he's that good, but no one's good enough to take this group to the playoffs. Injuries killed the teams chances this year, it really sucks that all our promising young SP's have had major injury issues
  17. Sellers. Regroup for 2018. Sign 2 SP this offseason. Hope and pray at least one of Heaney and Richards/Skaggs can come back and be a #3 type SP. Build the bullpen around Bedrosian/Parker by adding 2-3 more quality arms there. Get a left fielder and 2B that can hit their weight. Players that should be traded before July 31st for whatever you can get (assuming we are out of the race like I think we will be): Espinosa, Revere, Maybin, Cron/Marte (one of them), Escobar, Chavez, Nolasco. Those players aren't bringing back anything significant, but maybe you get back a guy or two that can contribute to a team that actually has a chance to be successful. Injuries killed that chance this year, as much as it sucks to say that on May 7th
  18. Challenge him, man. These are horrible hitters and their good hitters are coming up soon
  19. Damn. Pennington is usually very sure handed with the glove
  20. Erstad in 2002 was the best I've ever seen from an Angels defender AT ANY POSITION. He was out of this world that year I'm too lazy to check but I'm pretty sure the metrics back that up
  21. Pujols is being paid 240 million and has an OPS below .700. but time for bed, hopefully this team can close a game for a change
  22. Except every offseason when he shows up to camp 35 pounds overweight
