  1. The sad part about this is that Gio isn't even dominant tonight. We're just taking terrible at bats/swings and the umpiring is horrible
  2. Maybe I'm crazy here, but I see Hamilton, CJ, weaver's (60 million per year of space) contracts all off the books at seasons end and I have to wonder why Arte wouldn't want to commit 30M per year to a 27 year old local guy who is the best power hitter in the last 10 years. To me he's either really gun shy after the Hamilton/Pujols debacle or he simply isn't that committed to putting a legit winner on the field. Also, by the time Trout is due a new contract, Pujols will be very close to being off the books as well. So I really don't buy that we don't have the money for a player like this
  3. The idea that Marte is a better option at 3B than Cowart is basically just as hilarious as the idea that Pennington is a better option at 2B than Cowart
  4. Eppler having this team in contention without having more than a nickel to spend so far bodes very well for the future of this franchise
  5. I'm no scout but from what I've seen he's very solid behind the dish. That's certainly not going to hold him back IMO
  6. Taylor Ward has had a very strong season, as much as we have all complained about that draft pick. He's on track to be in the Majors some time next year backing up Maldonado
  7. The offense is the problem. You can't have Pujols, Valbueana, Pennington, Revere, Maldonado all in the same lineup some nights They need a bat to hit behind Trout
  8. Thanks..hadn't seen that yet Now i wish eppler traded for Walker in hindsight
  9. No reason for him not to be in AA. The kid is closer to major league ready than many think IMO. I think he'll be a September callup next year. He does everything well
  10. We don't need a 3rd baseman. We need a 2nd baseman (Kinsler) so we can move Cowart to 3rd.
  11. He's obviously got issues but the upside is tremendous as he's shown this year. Angels still win that trade once Nolasco is gone from the team You're not going to get a perfect pitcher for Hector Santiago. Eppler went with the upside which is a smart move, and paid off this year. Hopefully he can come back in September and make a few starts down the stretch
  12. Eppler has done a very good job being patient and allowing albatross contracts (Wilson, Hamilton, Weaver - at the end of his time) expire and not blowing that money on other underperforming players. He's going to get an opportunity this offseason to show what he's got in free agency
  13. I'd get Kinsler and bat him leadoff. Yeah, he's not having a good year but he's got a proven track record and I think he would get the job done. Imagine having Cowart at 3B, Simmons at SS, Kinsler at 2B...no ball would make it through that infield
