  1. Hi all,

Just wanted to share a chat we had with Taylor Ward today live from KC on the UK Angels podcast.

Thought it was a really interesting chat, Taylor is a very thoughtful guy and was cool to get his perspective on what he does when he is slumping, playing first base/third base, and plenty about Shohei, Mike etc.

If you fancy listening can hear it below, but was really cool that he gave up his time before heading to the ballpark to speak to us today

I saw you on the telly last night!

    Welcome Back!

Hope you get to talk with Erica this trip.

I was meant to be on Sunday actually but as a Shohei start so that didn’t happen. Not sure if it will happen this week now, I suspect not but we shall see

How many UK listeners do you figure you have ? Very cool to see you doing this from out there.

Completely missed this last year. I think about 25-30% of the listeners are from the UK.

Since I started the twitter account and podcast I think we are probably looking at between 100-150 Angels fans I’ve found in the UK, which doesn’t seem like a huge amount but we continue to grow

  4. This season feels really weird. You just want to believe it’s going to go differently to past years. The level of talent is definitely higher than previous years, but at the same time the same old problems are repeating themselves. Defensively we are nowhere near as good as we should be. Any time we face a good team, ala Yankees, Brewers etc we are beaten largely because they are doing things to a much higher level than we are in the field. The bullpen continues to blow games but it’s not strictly on them. Situational hitting is abysmal, starting pitching just not going deep enough. Nevin’s management certainly questionable too at this stage. I keep expecting them to turn things around and go on a run but I think it’s just hopeless optimism and in reality it’s going to be another season where they can never win a sustained amount of games in a row.

  5. Been a while since I've posted one of our podcasts. Still going with the UK Angels podcast. Trying to bring a slightly different perspective with the bleary eyed viewing in the middle of the night 5000 miles away. Not sure how many of you have listened before or still do, but if you've got space for another podcast in your life would appreciate people subscribing and checking it out.

Here's the latest episode recorded earlier today (Although without my regular cohost) - thanks all

I said this when the Arte interview came out: I'm getting the impression that Arte knows how much Shohei is asking for and isn't planning on meeting the ask and now is doing preemptive damage control. I hope I'm wrong. This is the single most amazing player of all time. Letting him go would be like trading Babe Ruth to the Yankees. Any owner who would do that should be run out of the league.

I’ve actually heard that’s it’s pretty much a done deal to the Dodgers already and that MLB would like him there. Something like a $600 million contract

Seeing how bad Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times has been it made me realize that Sam Blum isn't that bad afterall in comparison. He does write up some great feature stories and provides the fans with a ton of content throughout the season/offseason.

Honestly, I think Sam is very good at his job, he investigates and writes about a lot of issues many of us have been calling out for years and he challenges in ways others aren't able to. I fully appreciate that the style isn't for everybody and why some people chose not to engage with his content and that's absolutely their right to do so, but I think he's been a very good addition to coverage of the Angels and a different perspective.
