  1. It was a nice stretch while it lasted but as soon as the Angels see Houston the bats go quiet. I would rather get that draft pick in the top ten. The main thing now is to see Skaggs on Tuesday against KC.
  2. I would hang on to Shoe and wait until the off season when more teams will be looking for pitching. With the FA market devoid of quality starters he should bring a big return in prospects.
  3. Maddox was a free agent and Smoltz was acquired from Detroit for Doyle Alexander. I do, however, agree that the best way to consistently win is through player development.
  4. Why trade Shoe for a young arm when you know what he can do and is still controllable for 4 more years. I would consider trading Santiago for a high upside starter but not for any less. It might be prudent to really beef up the bullpen considering the paucity of quality starters available in free agency.
  5. Wouldn't we like to see the naked pictures of Sosh that Salas has?
  6. On alosing team the most useless player is the closer. Street seems lost this season and is probably effected by the standings. Smith, on the other hand, seems to have completely lost it. Too bad neither has much trade value now.
  7. Time for the Indy League. Guy is washed up.
  8. Tropeano will be ready in about 8-10 days. That takes care of Chacin's tenure with the Angels.
  9. He was optioned to Memphis yesterday.
  10. Alvarez and Mahle are both terrible. When is the last time Mahle pitched without giving up runs? Hard to believe they haven't had a lefty reliever worth a damn since who the h*ll knows.
  11. Now that David Wright is out for 8 weeks the Mets would also be a possible trade partner. If the Angels could get Wheeler for Escobar I would jump on it.
  12. How many yimes will this team win a 1-0 game? There are too many things that can go wrong. Smith has been shaky all season, but injuries play a huge part there. It is just a shame to waste such a great outing from Shoemaker.
  13. Go back to the old strike zone which was armpits to knees. Take away the check swing. If you start your swing it is a swing. I don't agree with using the K zone, the home plate ump is a big part of the game. The biggest problem to solve is the number of pitching changes. Of course, the Angels are the worst offender there.
  14. The rehab is controlled by the medical staff not by the player. At his age and amonut of service time still left before FA they will be very cautious.
  15. With the rule change the slide is considered late. Odor way overreacted to the play. Take the DP ruling and grt off the field. It was a nice punch though.
  16. A sweep on the road is nice but now we have to weather starts by Weaver and Shoemaker. The bullpen is still way over worked and outside of today, the rotation can't complete 5 innings. We can hope though.
  17. What about Matt Carpenter in St. Louis?
  18. When you look at yhrodter you have on the one hand, the best player in the game. On the other side you have the most over paid, least productive player. Having Pujols is like an anchor. He represents almost 20% of the payroll and is totally unmoveable. The rest of the roster represents very little upside potential. There is no one other than Yrout who you can anticipate will have a huge season. Yhey are who they are. This franchise is doomed until it can produce enough young talent with upside potential. There are way too many holes to fill. Minus Trout this is one of the worst rosters I have ever seen.
  19. It is time to start throwing sh-t against the wall and see if anything sticks. The problem is when you have five stsrters who only go 5-6 innings each. The pen will be wiped out by the middle of June.
  20. Trading for prospects is a tricky business. Drafting prospects is even trickier. This team has too many holes to fill for a two year rebuild, especially with a black hole farm. Trading a generational player like Trout is completely off the table. unless the Angels tank and get to draft in the top three, this will be a long rebuilding process.
  21. We saw the Giants beat the Brewers in game 2 of the season.
