  1. classic mbell. oh wait, what? i'm torn between being too old for this shit or can't get enough.
  2. since we're talking headley keep in mind he's spent his career in petco. the most brutal place to hit in baseball. he came alive once he got out of that park. for the right dollars he's worth it, but if someone gives him a crazy contract then you just let him go. i think the 4/44 would be perfectly reasonable in today's mlb dollars.
  3. scherzer is looking for 200 million. i don't think the angels are interested in that scenario. i absolutely believe they'll spend money if they like the situation, i just don't think they like the scherzer situation.
  4. i'm in no way embarrassed to say that i lost faith in him after 2012. i was a very vocal proponent of his upon his hire, but he struggled pretty hard for two years from the fan perspective. his FA decisions two years in a row were brutal in their outcomes. and a fair portion of that may have been bad luck, but not the majority. luckily, the behind the scenes FO systems building that he and servais were accomplishing was coming together wonderfully, but that wasn't observable from a fan perspective or in the wins and losses either. he redeemed himself last year in my eyes, and has finally become the gm i had hoped he was initially. maybe he already was, but now it's observable.
  5. i'd think it has to be last year's. for various reasons, the most important being his unbelievable roster building to get us some controllable young pitching, his bullpen rebuild, and position player flexibility. not to be overlooked though and what i think sways it, is the fact that the angels had sucked hard under his tenure up to that point and zero of his FA signings had been even worth a shit. the point being his contract was up and there is no way his job wasn't on the line. 2013 saw him save his job and give birth to a new angels future. today, he's just building on that.
  6. hard to disagree with that mindset. add in the fact that the angels can sustain a hefty payroll and you've got all the manageability you could hope for.
  7. i like mccarthy, but that term and those dollars? forget that noise.
  8. since beckham is still a possibility, i'd like to express my desire to add brock holt over beckham.
  9. excellent trade. like i and many others have said many times, always be the one trading for what the guy is gonna do and not what he's done.this is a great trade for both teams, to be fair. if heaney makes his name in mlb, he's going to do it as an Angel.
  10. i guarantee the angels aren't on any page similar to that. they're very happy with the players occupying the key roles. that trade leaves the team, from the FO perspective, with too many starters, too many closers and not enough offense.
  11. that would be a masterstroke. we sent you to miami danny, go ahead and retire.
  12. no, i won't excuse you. just because you're loud, doesn't make you right. and lou, i'm good thanks. he needed to be told by someone. end of exchange.
  13. no way man. they're celebrities. they're not real people. they're the boards that we throw our darts against.
  14. angelswin would lose membership at an alarming rate. due to a wave of suicides, orange county would ban all building construction over 2 stories.
  15. edinson volquez is a horrible pitcher. you guys are crazy. i'd take cj wilson five times a week over volquez. if the angels signed him, this place would lose their minds after a month of that dude.
  16. i still don't understand why aroldis isn't a starter. guys like that shouldn't be closers, that's a total waste of talent.
  17. over/under 75 wins. that's where i put the line, right now.
