  1. Except Chavez was injured 90% of his career & spent alot of time watching the game & learning about managing & coaching stuff. He'll fit right in with the players, he'll get DLed & sent down to AAA to manage a rehab game & called back up when he's activated.
  2. This. Would be fun watching Scioscia pull Kershaw 1 out away from no hitting the Angels & then their closer gives up a walkoff HR to Ohtani, meanwhile the Angels have Lackey as a pitching coach who starts laughing at Scioscia for pulling Kershaw.
  3. Skaggs will be better next year, his K% is great. Heaney should also be better next year. Both of them have pitched more IP in 2018 than they have in years, their not used to it ? Barria's FIP is a whole run higher than his ERA & his walk rate is high & his K rate is low, i expect regression from him.
  4. Hawk - biggest homer in sports history ?
  5. Shea Theodore signs a 7 year deal with 5.2mil AAV. The guy Murray gave away to Vegas instead of buying out useless Bieska & trading Vatanen. They could have used Theodore in another trade such as getting another team to take Perry which then would have made it possible to acquire Karlsson to stop SJ from getting him.
  6. How many of those prospect rankings predicted Kase, Manson & Rakell would be the players they are now ? Alot of them thought of them as depth players at most. It doesn't bother me that Mahura isn't ranked higher. All the more reason for him to prove himself when he's in the AHL & eventually the NHL.
  7. What will the Sharks look like after the next expansion draft ? At next expansion draft Pavelski will be 38, Burns 37, Vlasic 35, Kane 31, Karlsson 32, Jones 32, Couture 33, Hertl 28 & if they bring back Thornton on a selanne type contract: age 43. Their farm system should now move to 23rd or 25th in the league & their drafting history suggests alot of their guys wouldn't have panned out anyways so its not as bad of a loss for them as the Sharks strength has always been in strong arming in trades, mugging other GMs. They didn't draft Heed, their young D-man is a former Ducks prospect. The Ducks will strike back by then as these guys will still be under 30: Gibson, Kase, Rakell, Lindholm, Fowler, Manson, Montour, Ritchie, Steel, Comtois, Terry, Mahura, Lundestrom, Roy, Morand, McLaughlin, Jones, Larsson & there is a few other prospects i can't remember the name of. Given the teams drafting history most of the prospects have very good chances. If they reach their floor & some reach near their ceiling we could be looking at the 2021-22 Center depth chart as Steel/Lundestrom/Getzlaf/Morand with Getzlaf signing a 2 year deal after the expansion draft. Perry will be a UFA by then & Kesler most likely bought out.
  8. Thats a really great deal for the Stars considering he signed that in todays cap enviro & not in the year Getzlaf signed his with the Ducks. Seguin scores more goals, is faster & spends less time in the penalty box than Getzlaf & guys that are 6'1 are less likely to break down than 6'4 Getzlaf type dudes.
  9. I think they'll still be fine, Perry, Getzlaf are UFAs. Kesler 1 year left probably gets bought out. The tricky part will again be protecting all those D-men & getting Seattle to take a forward instead but may end up having them take Larsson to avoid picking Montour or Mahura. The Ducks group of forwards will be deep by then despite the decline of Getzlaf, that with that many of them they won't need to worry about protecting them as Seattle would likely still have its eye on Montour who probably develops into a top pairing quality RHD by then. By then will the Ducks be rolling out a super balanced D pairings getting balanced ice time ? Lindholm/Montour, Fowler/Manson, Mahura/Larsson if done right would have each pairing with a quality offensive weapon. I know Larsson is a LHD but if he could play on the right that 3rd pair is best 3rd pair in the league. At that point we'd be fine if Seattle picks Larsson in exchange we send them a pick to not pick Mahura or Montour. Another trick will be to wait until after the expansion lottery to sign a FA Getzlaf to a 1 or 2 year deal as the teams 2nd or 3rd line center by then.
  10. Ducks might as well write this season off & focus on 2019-2020. Let the rookies save themselves from gaining 1 year of that 2 year pro status that goes towards ending their exemption in the next expansion draft.
  11. Karlsson/Burns/Vlasic = Lidstrom/Rafalski/Kronwall = Niedermayer/Pronger/Beauch = Keith/Seabrook/Hjmarlsson 3 of those combos won a Stanley Cup. So SJ has won its first Stanley cup pretty much. If they don't win the Cup now, they'll be the biggest choke artists of all time.
  12. WOW Ottawa is the dumbest run team in the league by a longshot now. If thats what the cost was the Ducks should have gotten them to take Perry in exchange for a much better return or sent picks/prospect for another team to take Perry & then trade for Karlsson. They received the 3rd & 4th best prospects from SJ's below average farm system. Given how SJ has drafted b4, i'd say its definitely a below average farm system.
  13. Perhaps the holdup is the other GMs want to kick Murray in the balls if they are going to take on Perry's contract.
  14. I think they should pass on Al & Ted Bundy.
  15. Make Pujols play 1B, if he cries about no DH games then he can retire if he really feels like it. Ohtani should play every game at DH.
  16. The wealth thing is true but people in mexico don't harm each other cause of skin color like in the usa, alot of that is cause if you came from a family thats already wealthy or has successful relatives their likely to follow in their footsteps or try to improve via education. Several of my uncles down there are are lawyers, doctors, architects, some chose to keep running the family business such as clothing making, leather making, shoe making etc. I did get the impression that lighter toned mexicans aren't as comfortable with blue collar careers.
  17. Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf & Cogs are FA after 2020-21 season. Kesler will be under contract for only 1 more season so he probably gets bought out or he waives NMC Players under contract during delayed scenario in 2021-22: Kase/Rakell/Steel/Terry/Henrique/Fowler/Manson/Lindholm/Montour/Gibson - either way they have to move a player or trade something so they don't pick a player. Larsson probably becomes a Seattle Grunge in part of a trade to not select Montour.
  18. In 2007 Santana had some weird splits like a CY ERA at home & a Blanton ERA on the road, it was so bad it was like they shouldn't have let him leave the stadium so he doens't suck on the road.
  19. For other teams he's a buy low candidate, so i'd say use that to sign him to a cheap contract, at worst its not really a sunk cost at all & at best he finally produces to tune of 35 to 40 points (20 goals/15 to 20 assists). If he finally turns into something decent of a scoring threat, imagine someday having a Troll line with Ritchie & Jones on the wings being centered by Kesler.
  20. True, he'd have the best arm in the infield, laser beam throws to 1B putting an end to all infield hits. If he played 3B during the Ichiro era there would have been a rivalry between them especially when Ohtani throws a laser to 1B to rob Ichiro of a infield hit & then seeing Ichiro look up as a Ohtani bomb flys over his head in the OF.
  21. The AHL in Hockey used to be like that, now they have a west coast division.
  22. Sounds like a good idea. And if Pujols whines that he'll retire if they don't let him DH then that solves a problem.
  23. I know but when someone gets called up to the Angels they could just drive up to the majors.
  24. They should move to California or at the very least Arizona or Nevada.
