  1. Wow. I won't be surprised if in the year 2030 we see players missing catches cause they were on their phone tweeting, kids today are born with an iPhone or tablet in their hands & learn how to use iPhones before they can walk or talk. Bartolo may be fat, but i bet he grew up with no nintendo & likely did more chores & sports than kids today even came close to doing. Its like dogs, if you don't walk ur dog its legs will go bad. If people grow up being less active physically than previous generations they are gonna break down easier. I've read that early onset of colon cancer has gone up among millenials likely due to increased video game culture where people spend hours sitting. The more you exercise the more reliable & productive a digestive system is, as well as reducing risk for type 2 diabetes. All the health risk factors from lack of exercise is why i've forced myself to take breaks from the computer to exercise a bit. Even if a person doesn't lose weight just being more active is better for their blood sugar, heart rate, blood pressure, digestive system & it also helps create endorphins which help our minds manage stress/depression/anxiety.
  2. Kids grow up playing video games these days, their arms don't age as well as those from my dads generation that grew up playing just sports & more sports. Seems like younger & younger players are getting Tommy Johnned every year. Before we know it they'll be Tommy John surgery happening to HS players.
  3. Please be Chavez. It'll be neat to see this on MLB transactions next year: "Angels place manager Eric Chavez on the DL, sore hamstring from arguing balls & strikes with Country Joe" & later "Angels activate Manager Eric Chavez from AAA rehab stint"
  4. So they'll basicly still have a Cole when Kole is gone someday.
  5. Not even Brandon Wood sunk that low, his lowest was .143
  6. AL ERA was much higher back then. Only 1 pitcher (Johan Santana) had an ERA below 3.00 in 2006, only 2 including Johan in 2005 & in 2007 Lackey's 3.01 led the AL. He had a top 5 ERA in 2006 & 6th best ERA in 2005 ahead of Bartolo Colon who was 8th https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/AL/2005-standard-pitching.shtml somehow Colon won the CY Award. He was definitely an Ace type pitcher in those 3 years of 2005 to 2007 when steroids were still quite common among hitters. Lackey was one of the ones who complained about A-Rod still being in the game after testing positive for roids.
  7. So a Horse + = Lackey ? In other news the sequel of Goonies just casted John Lackey in a unspecified role. Joe Blanton is in line to play Chunk. Matsui is looking like a lock for Data.
  8. I just imagine if he stayed an Angel they would have had a great mentor for Richards, Heaney, Skaggs, Ohtani, he'd show them how its done & how get fired up for games.
  9. Yes. They could try to get it back with another trade.
  10. He was alot of fun for Deaf fans who could read lips to see what he was saying to Scioscia & the Umps.
  11. Given how he performed last year, maybe he wants to be the captain of the Ottawa Tank campaign 'Lose for Hughes'.
  12. According to this article on MLB he is now retired. https://www.mlb.com/cut4/john-lackey-comes-back-to-wrigley-field/c-296342044 John Lackey ranks 35th in all time beanballing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League_Baseball_career_hit_batsmen_leaders (quite a few former Angels on that list lol) If they had signed him as a FA reliever, I bet he would have pitched better than Noe Ramirez who serves up meatballs on a silver platter. He threw one of the coolest Curveballs ever. I liked when he went crazy on the mound, it always seemed to fire up the team & they'd come back to win somehow.
  13. Lol my dad did the same. The Angels were shitty when he was a kid & he liked following Pete Rose's career. In April 2002 I thought the Angels sucked as usual & stopped following them, then later in the year i'm told they are in the playoffs & my jaw dropped.
  14. I want to see the Astros in the WS, seeing Kate Upton in the crowd shaking her boobs is an added bonus.
  15. Thats about the same age as my dad, he followed the Reds instead (probably cause the Angels sucked royally). He threw a no hitter at his HS, then later quit the team after arguing with his coach.
  16. I'd buy low on Duchene, Senators won't be able to get much for him. Looking at the price of Karlsson, it shouldn't cost much at all for Duchene.
  17. I think Terry makes the roster maybe as an additional RW ? Or they move someone over to RW & have Steel Center a line.
  18. Comtois had a great game tonight i heard. Lundestrom got another point. I've also heard Mahura is playing better than Larsson. I've heard talk on another forum that in Sweden they think quite highly of Lundestrom that he'll likely be their top line center in the next WJC The more i keep hearing about Lundestrom its like the 2012 draft all over again. Lindholm didn't put up big numbers in his draft year. Meanwhile former Ducks 2nd round pick in 2015 Julius Nattinenen had his contract terminated. Finnish forwards are hit or miss imo.
  19. Murray is an old school Irish-Canadian who likely gets drunk on weekends & is asleep on the job on mondays.
  20. So if the Angels hired Will Ferrell to replace Gubi that is what would happen. Will Ferrell the Irvine native named a character in one of his movies 'Gene Mauch' cause he's a Halo fan.
  21. I'm guessing the 1974 Angels were pretty bad lol. Glad i never got to watch that season. 50% success rate with 1st overall picks is pretty good. Goodwin should have changed his name to Badloss or Bahdlauss
  22. He was superman in the OF back in 2002. He was flying all over the place for every ball hit his way, it was like watching someone play MLB the show with speed hacks. He was the only 1st overall pick in Angels history.
  23. Arte opens the bank when it comes to Latino baseball players. Eric Chavez is mexican american like Arte. Its a lock. I'm mexican american myself, my reason for wanting Chavez to manage the Angels is i think it'd be funny to see a manager get DLed on the team with the most injuries the past 5 years.
  24. No but he'll pull his hamstring when he walks out to argue with the umpires & be placed on the DL, then sent to AAA to rehab manage the Bees for 1 game. He could get forearm tightness for exchanging lineup cards though....
