  1. I agree. Sounds like both pitchers have a shot at being starters but both could be quality relievers. Might be part of the FO's plan to restock the pen.
  2. You guys are too much sometimes. He has an OPS of 1.054 and a WAR of 4 through 48 games and a "what's wrong with Trout" threads pop up.
  3. Well, it would be his 2nd offense, so that would make it 162.
  4. Have to add someone, preferably two. This bullpen is hot garbage right now. I wouldn't trust any of these guys with a one run lead. I have to imagine that the pen is the top priority right now.
  5. What about Blake Swihart? He's demanded a trade from Boston. Switch hitter, can play OF and C in a pinch.
  6. I'm guessing he was popped a while ago, appealed, and then dropped the appeal when he got hurt. The timing is too coincidental.
  7. I'd go get a bullpen arm ASAP. Still like the ideal of Kelvim Herrera. Maybe see if you can pry an Iglesias or Givens or Hand away.
  8. It doesn't help that Noe Ramirez is pitching important innings. Fixing the pen should be a priority.
  9. It was 8 years ago. It's well past time to get over "The Comment." It's the type of thing that you love if one of your guys says it, hate if one of your competitors says it -- I hope he says the same thing to the Astros in October after we clinch. If he helps us win games in 2018 I could give two s**ts about something he said 8 years ago in the thick of a pennant race.
  10. I think he's going to be hard pressed to do better next season. This was a relatively weak 3b market, and look what happened. Next year he's up against Donaldson and Machado, with other options like Beltre and Headley out there.
  11. The ball was really spinning well off the Cleveland bats today.
  12. Exactly. If he is looking to "bet on himself" on a "prove it" type contract, there are worse places to play and defenses to play in front of -- especially for a P that generates a lot of ground ball outs. If a team is willing to go 4, 5, 6 years for him, then so be it. I don't see a Boras guy taking a deal like this but it's probably the one type of deal I'd be comfortable with for him.
  13. Let's give him 2 years, $45M with a player option after year 1.
  14. Same "new" report every offseason. I hope its true -- a healthy, productive Albert would be great. Heck, even league average Albert would be a significant upgrade. But color me skeptical.
  15. And the good news is that even if it isn't accurate, the Angels still have the best player in baseball.
  16. I like Yelich. I'm ok with us passing at that price. Good for the Brewers, and good for the Marlins. On to the next one...
  17. My pipe dream addition is Schwarber. Maybe teach him some 1B, which as a former C I would think he could pick up relatively quickly. Would give us a LH bat with pop in the OF, 1B, DH, and an emergency C. I think the buy low window, if there even is one, slams shut this season.
  18. KRod was reportedly hitting 93 on the gun the other day. Might be worth a look as a ST invite. Could be a potential low risk/high reward type guy.
  19. Oh, I agree -- I wasn't offering an opinion one way or the other. That's just a factor to consider with those 3. One the one hand, I agree that those pick ups were like bonus picks; on the other hand, do we want to halt some of that momentum we've built on the minor league front? I guess, more importantly, is an Arrieta, Cobb, or Lynn worth sacrificing a pick for? Cobb and Lynn make sense in a lot of ways -- for the right price. Cobb was 15 in ground ball outs last season; Lynn 27 (https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/player-stat/ground-ball-outs). I think that would play well in front of this defense. Personally, given the injury history of this staff and having no one I can really see realstically going 180+ innings, I think adding another starter makes sense. We'll see...
  20. Cobb, Lynn and Arrieta all received QOs, so we'd lose a draft pick. I agree that they make sense money wise -- and the QO being attached will probably only serve to make them more affordable. But the question becomes whether we want to sacrifice a pick. I think that's why we are hearing about Yu the most. I bet he'll be the first SP to sign.
  21. Seems crazy to me. Not only are they paying a RP $52M, but they are surrendering picks to do so. They probably could have had Holland for less and kept their picks.
