Don got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Gameday Thread: Mariners @ Angels (6/5/2021): Ohtani DHing, J. Iglesias back & hitting cleanup
Yeah, he definitely pitched a lot better than the run total would lead you to believe. When his fastball command is on and his splitter has good bite he’s really good.

There are tons of rarer rounds out there that will take down a grizzly. Some are newer than others. But there are quite a few widely used rounds that are perfectly capable of stopping one too. My guess is that most of the cases of people having underpowered weapons in that scenario are either due to them not planning for the fact/possibility that they could encounter a grizzly, or that they were hunting some sort of smaller game and were thus using a lighter round of some kind. There’s also the operator error factor.

Yeah, you’re probably right. But say he gets through seven with 90-95 pitches and no more runs. Would you want him out there for the 8th? I would. Ten years ago that’s not even a question.

Took a few ticks off his velo for better command looks like. DOesn't need to dial it up to 100 MPH when he has the kind of splitter he has.

The accent gradient between the Dakotas is pretty dramatic.

It's cool. If we just throw like another 8 billion dollars at this one more time, then wait like 12-16 years there's a real solid chance we'll get a decently fast train from Palmdale to Bakersfield. And that will be so worth it.

Don got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Weirdest Craziest play that you may ever see in baseball. No fundamental baseball being played by the 1B
The hilarious part is that there were two outs. Literally anything other than what he did would've worked better.

Does that make Albania decidedly not third world? Also, 4th lowest unemployment rate in the Balkans, so that's gotta count for something. As for the great nation of South America, I will need to conduct more research into its past foreign policy.

Don got a reaction from failos in Chris Rodriguez & Max Stass join AAA Salt Lake Bees (Rehab)
Every concussion is different, so it’s really hard to speculate on Stassi’s particular one without info directly from him. That said, i imagine they’re giving him some rehab work for the same reason they’d give anybody else some... to get his timing back at the plate, and in his case to get used to catching in real game situations for a couple days.
You’ve gotta be tough as hell to play catcher at the pro level. You’re gonna get hurt pretty regularly, and I’d venture to guess that concussions are way more common among catchers than you think. As a little example, I remember a lot of people here in KC talking about this in regard to Salvador Perez a few years back:
