  1. Im not surprised. We don't have a championship core. We just have trout and some spare parts and a bunch of solid pitchers. Every championship team has a core that is clearly visible. The Giants have Bumgarner, Posey, Cain, Panda and now Belt, Pence, and a few others. The Red sox had lester, ortiz, pedroia and before them schilling and ramirez. Shit even the Royals have a solid well known core now in cain, hosmer, Gordon, the three bullpen guys. You can't win without a core. Too many moving parts that don't come through together on alot of nights.
  2. we dont have a championship core. we just have trout. in a few years we probably will with trout, heaney, richards, and newcomb. but for now, this is just an aiiiiiight team that had pujols and trout have 2 extraordinary months between them.
  3. When weaver comes back, shoemaker stays in, Wilson gets bumped out. But either way, in Games 1-3 of any playoff series I'd still prefer Richards, Shoe, Heaney....over Richards, Weaver, Wilson.
  4. My only concern is why the angels make dumb mistakes and errors in big games. I think we had like 7 errors in that 09 alcs. Last year's alds showcased some inexplicable base running and trout losing the ball in the lights. I really wonder why this franchise just buckles under pressure.
  5. Didn't pujols hurt his wrist in 2011? In october that year he was busy hittin 3 HRs in Arlington.
  6. we still can't throw their runners out, and now their players can actually hit. we are doomed.
  7. I thought we had too many pitchers, any reason Trop getting the ball today?
  8. I am aware of CJ's crappy playoff history and his weak performance last year in Game 3. Still, Weaver is terrible right now. If you let CJ go in a trade and Weaver still sucks, then you have an extremely young/inexperienced rotation in Richards, Shoe, Heaney and Santiago. I'd feel much more comfortable with CJ in the mix and then you trot out the 3-4 hottest arms when the playoffs begin.
  9. I would not trade CJ, with Weave still such a big question mark. While the staff of Richards, Shoe, Santiago, and Heaney is solid, there's very little playoff experience there. Last time Richards squared off against Scherzer last year, he was sweating bullets. At least CJ has some big game experience and I'd see him as a capable game 2 or game 3 starter.
  10. We have a great young pitching staff that will be awesome for years to come. We also have Trout. That's a great foundation going forward. My only worry is that Mike S. and Arte, without someone like Dipoto, will just go crazy and pull another Vernon Wells type move and cripple the franchise.
  11. Much of the journalism that has come out since this incident has inconsistencies, generally: 1) Blaming Dipoto for the Hamilton signing. That was clearly Arte 2) Lauding Dipoto for enhancing the farm system and pitching core, while at the same time wondering why the offense has suffered (needed to trade Kendrick and Trumbo to strengthen the pitching staff) 3) Stating that Scioscia butted heads with Reagins. From what I know, Reagins was doing whatever Mike wanted him to do, including going out and getting Wells at the expense of Napoli. My opinion is that this organization needs a complete restart at the top. Any more of this and we'll soon be hearing "Trout demands trade". After that, this organization will be become the LAstros, the same team that will ironically replace us at the top of the AL west for probably years to come.
  12. I'm actually fairly happy with Stoneman, though would prefer Dipoto. Stoneman knows pitching defense and speed.
  13. This franchise's management is a complete disaster. The selection of that catcher in the first round just underscores this point further. Luckily, they hit the jackpot on Trout and Dipoto has had the freedom to acquire some young arms. Aside from that, things have been fugly since the close of 09.
  14. This team is old, inconsistent, and has several good players performing below their capabilities. Its going to be a long season.
  15. Bedrosian was mr heart attack, that guy aint ready yet
  16. Weaver needs to stay on, i will cry if they let him leave
  17. This is the right thinking here. Good post.
  18. so racist that we are using a Spanish name to describe this sort of middling prospect
  19. We need pitching. Where are we going to get that
